Finally got the formal email offer today. And yes, I responded that I accept. LOL! Wonderful! Are you planning to accept? You wouldn't want to make a hasty, impulsive choice about it.

Hang in there everybody. We are all more than ODAR hoped for when this new register was created. That bodes well. And if the intel is correct, there will be about 100 new offers before Labor Day and another 250 next fiscal year. There are plenty of seats left at the dance. I understand the frustration I read in the "wallowing" thread. But I believe a lot of those posters have good things coming their way. Enjoy the weekend!

At last I have the written offer! Since I am an outsider is there a protocol for contacting my new office? If you identify your new office, there may be someone who follows this board who will reach out to you. That's how it worked for me. Per Gram's suggestion, I hereby announce that I am starting at the Johnstown, PA office on June 29, and would be pleased to have someone from there get in touch with me through this board. Bob G in Falls Church tells me I should have a package via UPS earlier next week with some contact information for that office, and I will, of course, be in touch. But I would be happy to touchbase in the meantime. Many thanks!

First time poster, long time lurker (or should I say full-time lurker?!? It felt like that sometimes), and soon to be ALJ! (Gaidin, I did vote in your fabulous and informative polls though, despite being social media shy.) Before saying anything else, I wanted to thank all of you wonderfully helpful posters for the last few years of information, laughs, and intel!!! I wouldn't have made it through this process without you guys. A special shout out to Funky and Sratty who in particular gave this outsider a ton of info since 2013. And a big thanks to the creators of this forum (Pixie, ALJD, and any others).
Okay here are key details: this afternoon, I received a formal offer, which I accepted. Heading to Johnstown, PA, apparently with one or two of you. Outsider, non-vet, but am "anotherfed." I will be in the June 29 class too (yes, 2 weeks to go and counting). So looking forward to it...I have to admit being especially excited to meet my favorite avatar in person: JA, aka lizdarcy. (I've got some temporary JA tattoos for you! And anyone else who wants to try one on.) I will also admit, Sratty, that like Hondo, I was mispronouncing your avatar this entire time, despite being a sratty too. Hondo's post cleared it up for me, and I was also LMAO over that. Maybe if you had been srcounsel I might have figured it out sooner!! Or maybe not.
Good luck to everyone else on the forum waiting for the call, whether you are posters or shameless lurkers!
P.S. to Johnstown folks: Found out all hotels in town booked June 27 because the town is hosting "Thunder in the Valley" that weekend. So, very loud reception for us!

Hope the intel is right. And that is a great Kinks song--never heard it before. Thank you for sharing.

Congrats! Johnstown is a pleasant place to live.
I am not feeling clever enough to find an ending for a sentence beginning "It is a truth universally acknowledged...." except perhaps that Washington DC is unbelievably hot and humid in July and August. I see we will have a lot to discuss My husband left a copy of Persuasion on the dining room table, so I was thinking about Bath ("incomparable") this morning. For the past few months, though, I have been going back through Dickens and the Brother Cadfael mysteries. I will have a LOT of time to read on my three-train journeys to and from Jersey City every day.
I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Super crazy busy the last few days. Drove 1135 miles in 2 days to find a rental in Fort Smith. I was actually successful! GREAT group of folks there and the area is awesomely pretty. Very nice drive. MANY nice areas to live. And I will be working at the MALL! Yes... the mall. Fort Smith has the only ODAR office in the mall. They make fun of it but I'm thinking I have scored! Nail salon downstairs, food court, free parking, SHOPPING at lunch...need I say more? Super happy to be in the tornado of happenings with the move and all of it. Here is hoping all those still in the running get exactly what they want! Keep the faith people. Still a LOT of hiring to do and there is no reason to despair. Until you actually in fact stop showing up on certs... you are not out. Ignore those naysayers who say bad things... think positive, stay hopeful! They have to hire someone (ok many as in another 250 more next year alone if the budget works out) and it could be YOU getting the call.

I truly appreciate the kindness and sincerity in your post sratty. Everything you do is done with class, which is why you will be a wonderful ALJ. Thank you as usual for your kind words. However, I will admit, I would much rather be on your side of the glass looking out than on my side of the glass looking in. Yet, I do know there are still chances ahead for all of us still looking in.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in the group who started June 29th! We start training this Monday, July 20th. The past few weeks have flown by, busy times. I hope everyone out there waiting for the call gets the call soon, whether it be ODAR, SEC, Labor, OMHA, or another agency. The journey is quite long, but the ALJ position is well worth it. Good luck all! And to fellow classmates, see you Monday!

OMG -- how I wish our office was in a mall!! No complaints about the office. Everyone is unbelievably wonderful. But a mall location would make it complete perfection. See you soon, Ms. Ratty.
