Right, Gary, I guess that it was the 2012 cert. Thanks for finding this in the archives. Now, is everyone signing up for this one free year of credit monitoring?

I was a frequent flyer on this board a couple of years ago under tricia. I got through the test and interview and then was honored to be one of the first candidates to be three-struck on the first go-around. I just got the letter yesterday. Is there anything new on the "cybersecurity intrusion"? Is there any downside to the one free year of credit monitoring? Thanks. I just got my letter about the security breach b/c my mail is being forwarded--so I am wondering the same thing. Any downside to accepting the offer of credit monitoring?

I signed up for the free service they offered after the opm breach. And, I signed up for this one (a different service) after the keypoint breach. So, I guess I am doubly protected.
Downside? Other than the fact you had to enter all the info that wasn't included in the OPM and Keypoint files into these new systems, thus exposing even more of your private info to supposedly secure systems controlled by others, I can't think of any downside.

Are you saying you received some kind of formal notice of being 3 struck ?

Has anybody else heard that eQuip is down and has been down for awhile? I heard this from a reliable source at another Agency that has been unable to hire because it can't get security checks done. I don't know how much eQuip comes into play before SSA hires. Thoughts? predictions? Wags?

I don't know how much eQuip comes into play before SSA hires. Thoughts? predictions? Wags? I don't know about all jobs, but SSA will routinely place ALJs on the rolls and have them doing cases before their full-blown security checks go through. I assume they make a isclosure to the offerees that continuing in the job is subject to a successful security clearance. I don't understand how important the clearance can be if they give you accesss to the computers and all of the PII in the system before finishing them. I would think anyone who failed the security check would be too big a risk to tell that they failed, so, I don't know what happens after that. But bottom line, this should not hold up ALJ hiring. Unless it does.

Yeah, that's why no one was hired in August. All background checks for every agency is on hold, regardless of software. It's a contractor hacking thing. I am assuming that ODAR has figured out a way around to hire folks in September. Perhaps a provisional hire, subject to background checks.
