It has been six years and the scars of elation/anxiety/hard work are still felt. Here are a few pointers in no particular order:
1. Think about a tail malpractice policy. I bought a life time one and it was relatively cheap.
2. Make sure the letters to clients are CM/RRR and that you give them at least two choices of attorneys who have agreed to take the cases. Keep a list and be assiduous. Check the Bar to ensure you say and do all the right things. "Be there" for the clients--they matter more than you. Be honest to a fault.
3. Don't be afraid to ask for help. I hired a temp and was glad that I did.
4. If you can afford it go to the new place for a few days with the significant other to find a rental.
5. If you have cases in front of a Court that are pending--please ensure that they are covered. Don't leave it to chance and to the client insofar as you are still the attorney until you are not. Most clients will be happy for you. The ones that are not will need watching.
6. Even after they find counsel, some will miss you. You've had the divorce, be kind but firm.
7. Follow Don Henley: ""...don't look back, you can never look back...".
Good luck and break a leg. Remember at this point most if not all of you reading this should be Judges. Its just that, well, there ain't enough room for y'all...

I was simply planning on all acquittals for my criminal defense clients, so there won't be anything to wrap up.

What a great ALJ choice! She's not even sworn in yet and already she's a model of judicial efficiency!

Aren't you concerned that with that mind frame she will be at least tempted to pay down the backlog? We're watching you Miss! LOL
