For people getting FOADs, there is a possibility that ODAR wants you, but can't get to you until they get some other people out of the way first. Don't lose heart. If I remember correctly, several people got FOADs in December, and then got offers a couple of weeks later to be in the January class. Keep the faith, people!

It looks like everybody reporting in got their FOAD letters at 0721 or 0722 yesterday morning. It may be that those are all the FOAD letters they are sending out at this time. Perhaps there will be more after the 8/10 hires?

I have gotten a few PMs and am working on a list of cities that seem most likely for August 10. IF you have NOT received the FOAD letter it would help me get this together if you could send me your GAL list. I promise I will keep it anonymous.

I have all 62 cities and did not receive the letter (yet). It seems it would be easier to work out what cities are left by finding out what cities the people had who received the FOAD letter. Those are probably smaller GAL people. Just my two cents. :-)

Knowing people had all 62 cities will not help determine which cities are left for the August hire.

Gaidin - I have to agree. I think a poll to screen out cities with closed certificates will yield more than having the lists of all cities or all cities within the individual GALs of those who have not received the "Thanks, but no thanks" (at this time) email.
On the other hand - I think score may be a factor here - those without an email likely combine the cities to be filled AND project to be eligible for consideration based on score - you might have cities still in the running, but are outside the reachable range for the 25 hires. Whether or not that results in your getting the email now rather than later would be another question for another time.

Its really the small GAL people who didn't get the FOAD letter I need to hear from. Somebody with 62 isn't helpful except to verify that at least some cities are in play. But most people with small GALs that got the FOAD its because there were hires in their cities. We could already be pretty sure those cities were closed.
I have already identified Louisville as a city most likely still in play. That was from someone with a very small GAL who hadn't gotten the FOAD.

But knowing which cities are for sure closed would eliminate those cities for sure. Anything not eliminated would, in theory, still be in play.

I understand your approach Gaidin and it will give you the desired results if you get enough small cert people to participate in sharing they didn't get the FOAD letter. Hopefully, you receive more than one or two participants as SSA will need to hire, in my opinion, for at least 10 or more cities to reach 20 to twenty five ALJ candidates SSA desires for the August hire.

I have already identified Louisville as a city most likely still in play. That was from someone with a very small GAL who hadn't gotten the FOAD. A transfer inquiry for the Louisville office went out last week to those on the transfer list, so it may be one of their other offices that's still in play.

So upon further reflection berk727, moopigsdad, and Ace Midnight are correct. In retrospect I should have started out the way they suggested and asked for the list of GALs that got the FOAD. Although the ideal respondent has a large list of certs not a small list. A large list would indicate a reasonably high score eliminating Ace's valid concern about cert size as well as allow me to check off the largest portion of the list. So if you have received the FOAD (for this set of certs) please send me your list. Sorry for changing the methodology on you guys but when I was thinking about it over lunch I realized i got it wrong.

The definition of "reachable" is going to change as cities are closed out.

OK this represents my best guess on what cities are still alive. I took out all the cities (I think) that have been hired into since April. I then added back in Middlesboro and Mt. Pleasant because I don't believe you should ever bet that they will stop hiring in those offices.
I then cross referenced that list against the FOAD lists people sent me. Thanks guys your pms were truly helpful.
If you got a FOAD letter and had a cert for one of these cities please let me know here or in a pm. If anybody thinks I should add a city let me know and I will tell you what I think/know.
Charleston,SC Dayton Fayetteville, NC Hattiesburg Lexington Louisville Macon Madison Minneapolis Montgomery Moreno Valley Morgantown Mt. Pleasant Omaha Paducah San Bernardino Tupelo West Des Moines
Again thanks to everybody who responded to my request. Crowd sourcing stuff like this is really the only way to get close to the truth.

Gaidan, Awesome as usual. One extra factor- transfers. I'm thinking a place like Charleston would be filled by a transfer rather than a new hire. Not my wish of course, just logical observation of the large list of ALJs wishing to transfer there.
