So, after 5 password changes, I got into usajobs.com. Apparently, in 2013, I GAL'd (what does that mean) only my current, popular city. Should I even bother with the WD etc. in October? SS, I also had a hard time with usajobs, but finally got my GAL....which I think is Geographic Availability List.

Of course you should. OPM may yet decide to allow people to modify their GALs. I am betting they won't decide on that until they see how many they add to the register after this fall's testing. So, if you are on the register, you may get a chance to expand your list.

Sally -- anything can happen with this process, but only if you put yourself in contention by taking the exam. Also you can start over on usajobs by making another account with a new email account. It's a shame the jobs website is so difficult to use

Denver is on the current cert list and aside from San Diego it may be the most popular office in America.. You may be able to modify your GAL later as others have observed. Just keep swimming.

I agree with what the others have said. 1. They may yet include your city on some certs down the road. 2. I wouldn't be surprised if OPM allows people to modify their GALs. I'm guessing that may occur once they see who all is added to the register so they can be included in the modification opportunity. In other words, by the time an expanded GAL would do you some good, you may already have been able to expand yours.

Not to mention MANY have been hired with one city GALs! Plus just because 10 people are on the transfer list for that city doesn't mean they will accept right when offered. Things do work out on occasion.

I completed my 2013 application in 2013 via Application Manager. There is absolutely nothing on my USAJOBS account regarding my application. Does anyone know of any way of locating my information?

While in your usajobs account, click the Application Status link in the left margin. You should see the job then. Click the "More Information" link at the bottom of the job and you should be able to get into application manager.

Oh well, I claim brain-addling as I'd been on the road with the family for ten plus hours! But anyone wanna talk Minecraft?

Well, I received the email to move on to DC so someone knows where it is and that is the important thing. Thanks Gary

Readynow - double check your Application Status - at the bottom in fine print there's a way to show hidden applications. Yours may be hidden because it's been so long.

I have clicked that hidden application icon so many times, lol. I think there were two different ways of getting to the Application Manager back in the day (2013). One was to create an account directly with that site and the other was to go through USAJOBS. I created an account directly and applied. That direct link to the Application Manager was closed soon after the application process closed. I think I am just out of luck. I have emailed USAJOBS and Application Manager....nada.

I'm with readynow. So christina, could you post it to the full board, or PM me the instructions as well?
Not that it makes any difference at this point. I GAL'd what I GAL'd back in 2013 and I'm stuck with it unless they open it up again. I suspect I would narrow the range rather than widen it, but who knows.

There was an entire conversation about this a year? or so ago. About the application manager issue for those who did not go through USAJobs. They were not able to get back to their info at all. That was the bottom line. Maybe look in the search function and see if you can find those threads... maybe use "manager" as a term.

Yes, yes, a million times yes. I was hired with a very small GAL as were many others in the most recent class. AND a GAL expansion is coming. Go to DC. Invest in yourself. The worst that happens is you take a stressful exam and spend a little time in DC. The best is that you get offered a great job.
