Much as I agree that the info is readily available, and everyone who's applied for the job had at least a bit of a heads up each time they get a city-cert e-mail, having been both in private practice and in gov, it kind of astounds me that ODAR cuts things sooooo close on the offer side, to the point where it's reputed that they don't extend offers they are authorized to offer because they can't give enough notice! (And why don't they let the offeree decide if it's enough notice? - especially earlier when they're not running up against a fiscal year wall?) That seems a little messed up. Especially after 5 or so rounds of hiring, you'd think they might figure out a way to allow enough time to make offers and receive answers that doesn't run out of time like that. I also find it interesting that the hiring goals got cut down so much as this last go-round was in progress. Did the pool of remaining desirables not have 90 people left? Did they have 150 people, 140 of which had only unreachable cities on their GALs? I guess that's why the Puzzle Palace earns its name. For these, and other, rhetorical questions, stay tuned to the Board! (PS - What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question? )

Nobody knows since there has been no answer.

(PS - What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question? ) A funny question that doesn't anticipate an answer? I think we need input from somebody who did much better than me on the LBMT : )

and possibly, at times, the most cantankerous class ever.

Just want to wish all those who are waiting for the call the best possible luck over the next few days, and send my hopes that everyone in this wonderful professional community gets the opportunity they've been waiting for over the last few years. I hope to have the chance to meet you in person before long as well. Congratulations to all who have already received offers, especially Stmu86, who gets to stay in what sounds like one great Mississippi town.

Just sticking to my original prediction that no more offers will be made until Tuesday, September 1, 2015 due to unresolved issues for a couple of offerees. Until those issues are solved (thinking these people may have more than one cert location on their GAL), then nothing can be done until those offers are accepted "officially" by phone before SSA moves on.

I cannot possibly give you a thumbs up on your prediction. This is now 3 weeks before report date and a dozen (there are still people who do not play on this board) people got an offer for a class that is supposed to be 3-4 times larger? Really? Not liking this process, this should be the smoother part of the marathon, a flat straight-away to the finish line. Not a marine corps mud run!!!

And as far as we know, no offers today? I saw Sacramento pop up earlier today, but I don't think it has been confirmed.

I hope you like mud sealaw because it has become a "mud run" whether we like it or not. You have two choices you can accept an offer if given, even if the time left before the start date is minimal or you can refuse the offer because you do not have enough time to start on September 21, 2015. Such is life!

Having run both marathons and a MC Mud run, I'd say they are both easier than waiting for the call! I knew that I'd cross that finish line in those races. Maybe this is more like an ultra marathon? Or maybe battling windmills?

Such is life! I do like mud. I must since I've been known to get some slung on me! My choice is easy, immediate 'yes', no questions asked other than who is my sponsor and what is their phone number. I will be there. I just know the realities of my agency's HR department and they are not known for their swiftness. I will assume that ODAR HR folks essentially take care of everything in order to get people on board. Nevertheless, it is a short time to get kids adjusted, pack, etc. Not really fair, but nobody's asking me

I knew that was your answer sealaw. It was a rhetorical question which didn't need to be answered. I think with the exception of maybe one or two people everyone given an offer, even if only given less than a week's notice would still take the position.
