As of today at 12:04 pm it was. So G, As I understand it from my source the transfer list is worked monthly. What bearing does it have on us waiting for NORS or new certs. I don't understand that.

ODAR works the transfer list before it requests certs. Once certs are requested all locations for which certs were requested are frozen. ***** Also it is never a bad time to remember how great Matthew McConaughey was in Dazed and Confused.*****

there is a big room in FC or maybe it was several rooms combined that should be able to host 50. i just have no idea how many training rooms there are in FC. and satellite training is also an option. that could allow same group of trainers to reach several training sites at once. Hi Christina, The idea of satellite training intrigues me. Would that mean a virtual training (i.e., teleconferencing) or would that be a few choice locals around the country in addition to FC where it was mandatory that trainees attend in person? Has SSA ever conducted training in satellite locations? Just curious.

I received a PM today that indicated that the plan was to hire four classes of roughly 50 ALJs each with the first starting in June and the last starting before the end of the fiscal in September. That plus the class of folks who just started gets them close to 250 for the year. ODAR had a similar goal last year and the OPM hack derailed it. Hopefully this year our friends in China will be considerate enough to wait until the start of the next FY so as to avoid delaying our starts. Love the intel, but I will eat my proverbial hat if ODAR hires 4 classes in 4 months. I hope it happens but that would literally require ALJ trainers in Falls Church nonstop for 4 months:
Duty station start date (+3 weeks =) Training start date (+4 weeks =) Training end date Jun. 27 Jul. 18 Aug. 12 Jul. 25 Aug. 15 Sept. 9 Aug. 22 Sept. 12 Oct. 7 Sept. 19 Oct. 11 Nov. 4
As always, though, thanks for passing on the intel. And anyway, ambitious and perhaps overly optimistic plans are better than no plans at all!
Thanks for the intel and apologies for the delay in reading this, but I thought training was only two weeks. Has the FC experience been expanded or has it always been four weeks? After training and your return to your duty station, do you also have a mentor or is it pretty much up to you to ask for help when/if needed? Curious as ever.

never full blown alj training. but for years, we've watched training from Central over satellite. We currently have a quarterly nationwide training that i assume is from Falls Church and everyone watches nationwide the same day. in fact, i'm not even sure all the trainers are in the same location during some of these trainings.

I believe the FC portion hhas always been 4 weeks. The portion in the HO before going to FC was extended from 2 weeks to 3 weeks for this register.
I will defer to someone who has actually been hired about the mentoring.

Thanks, Christina. In this day and age, one would think remote or satellite training for ALJs would not only be possible, but preferred, given the amount of money that is spent on travel, accommodations, food, et cetera getting judges together in one, central location.
