That actually made me much more excited about the potential job, despite what appears to be inevitable failure in the microcosm. I would have been happy to be working on the SSA backlog, and in a way, I am, but knowing there is a massive problem that I might be able to help fix at OMHA is a very positive thing in the potential for a change in scenery.

Update on OMHA reference checking: They are not using a contractor - the reference checking is being done in-house. I do not know what that means for the potential number of references from whom they need responses - it could mean they want them all (I had a lot of supervisors in the last 5 years), or it could mean that they are more prone to cut it off with sufficient responses. It also implies (given our assumption of several tens of potential appointees) that the reference checking will take a little longer than might otherwise have been assumed.
If my reference checking is completed without all references being contacted, I will update the board, or if someone's references have been checked and they were either obviously completely thorough or obviously not so, please let us know.
I only care because not all of my supervisors are ... talented reference givers ... and I would just as soon have the checker be satisfied with several of my other, eager references if randomly possible.

Propmaster - so have some of your references been contacted?

Propmaster - so have some of your references been contacted? I do not know, but I do not think yet, since I e-mailed my references to warn them and have not had a confirmation of contact yet.

This has a dormant thread; I have heard nothing since my phone interview: Anybody have any update?

a couple weeks ago, references were being contacted. At least some people reported hearing from their references. Several of mine were contacted over a couple days. However, nothing new (that I've heard anyway) since then.

My last reference was checked earlier this week. They are still moving along, as far as I can tell.

Good luck!!!

With new SSA certs imminent, it would be nice if OMHA might move forward on its prior cert before it loses more candidates to SSA. Of course it is also possible that a new OMHA cert might be issued for those with broader GALs covering more OMHA cities.

Has anyone had the video teleconference interviews with the Chief ALJ and Deputy Chief?
What's the scoop on OMHA?

To my knowledge, some indicated that their references were contacted after the initial telephonic interview, but no second or VTC interview and certainly no indication of any offers made or accepted.

This seems a good place to ask ...
Someone on another thread mentioned that ODAR pays relocation expenses for current federal employees, including non-ODAR feds, but OMHA does not pay relocation expenses at all. Is this true?

I am not certain, but as far as I know - no agency pays the relatively generous relocation allowance that ODAR does for current federal employees. I think it varies (in some cases, considerably) from agency to agency. I have also heard that OMHA pays little if any. I am open to being contradicted by someone who actually knows.
