Sigh. I don't think Mrs. Jagvet will let me see it before she does. I'll have to wait until I get home. Don't tell me any spoilers! I assume you know that Darth Vader is Kirk's father. Or was that a spoiler? I knew that; of course I knew that! Attachments:

So were all going to the Star Trek movie release in about 2 weeks, right? Count me in! I'll buy the popcorn! Have you seen the price of theater popcorn lately?!

Time for a round of movie reviews! I think the most recent movie was the best of all three in the reboot series. I know Simon Pegg helped write the script and he was a Trek fan before he was hired on as Scotty. I think that reflects well in the script. I also admit to a Snort-Laugh in the first five minutes. Forgot to tell y'all, that if you go to Best Buy they have assorted Trek dvds that come with a code for a coupon for the new movie. I bought the last movie for less than the value of the coupon and then used the coupon for the movie. Sweet!

If you haven't seen the new one yet, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I enjoyed it. The casting is fabulous, down to a person. But, I think my favorite (besides Kirk, of course) is Karl Urban's perfect iteration Dr. McCoy. DeForest Kelley would be proud, I think.

I agree. The actors all nail it, but Karl Urban IS McCoy!

Saw it last weekend -- it did not disappoint. But I couldn't help tearing up everytime Chekov was on screen. So sad.

This thread is Perfection.
So last night, at a school board ice-breaker meeting, a question arose as to what my "dream job" would be. I responded without hesitation that it would be role-playing on Star Trek, either as a Bejoran 1st Officer, or the station's chief science officer. I can't even imagine how amazing it'd be to join with Dax.
I'm sure being an ALJ is just as good, so long as I have Worf pouring me bloodwine and a pet Data by my side.

Happy anniversary to Star Trek, TOS! 50 years ago today, it debuted, boldly going where no (one) had gone before.

50 Years of Star Trek!! One of the few series and motion picture franchises I can say I have actually watched all (or most) of, with James Bond/007 being a close second (at least as to movies).
There's talk that there's a new ST series in the works for prime time again. I'm curious to see how it will turn out.
