not to take away from Arlo Guthrie but i like Willie Nelson's version of this song too Willie is a walking American song book. This shows how influenced he is by jazz (Bob Wills a major). He hardly sings anything (or plays guitar) without syncopating.

Change crazy love to crazy process, tweak some other lyrics, and this works

Christina - do you actually know all of the songs and artists that you post? If so you have a wide knowledge of music.
I only recognize about 30% of what you post. You are certainly giving me a musification- that's my word for music education.

You are certainly giving me a musification- that's my word for music education. i think i know all the songs i post. some of the other posts are new to me. Pre internet, my BFF got me a Rolling Stone(magazine, not group) anthology as she knew it was the perfect gift for me!!! if that says anything. and i learned from that book how Chuck Berry influenced the Beatles and Stones and a lot of other things that are now deeply buried somewhere in my mind.... but i actually read and enjoyed that book(and it's huge) in my free time. i am woefully behind on tunes once i got buried in law books and even more so, once i was buried in diapers but up until then, i do pretty well!! and i pretty much always have music on now so that helps too! listening to U2 at the moment.

He knows a lot about music. Don't ask me how I know this! Pixie

Some truth to what Pixie says. I know a lot of the 70s rocker songs thru the hubby.

Thru Hiker, I guess to some extent we all need each other or we wouldn't keep coming back to the board. I almost feel like we are a cyber law school class (and by that I mean 1l, 2l, etc.)that has bonded despite all the miles between us. And I like that tune by America to boot! I don't remember when it came out but I have an old cd of America's greatest hits and this song is on that cd.

Memories of my freshman/sophomore years in college! I NEED YOU was out as a single in 1972 (my source says) and was, I believe, a part of the AMERICA album which was released in 1971, but rereleased in 1972 to include A HORSE WITH NO NAME which the original did not include. When HORSE rocketed up, they rereleased. I NEED YOU held down the B side of the LP. At least I think so. A magic time marked by magical music.
