I read this thread about new hearing offices opening next year. As some of you may know from my previous postings I am a state ALJ hoping to land a position with SSA as an attorney-advisor. Had an interview awhile back that I thought went great, references called, etc. but have not been offered the position.
In any event on the list of hearing offices posted on this thread there are several new offices opening up where we have family and would possibly like to relocate to. Does anyone have any clue when and where they will post attorney advisor positions for these new locations? In that past I have been told to check usajobs.opm.gov, but have found that not all positions are posted on that website. Also does anyone know when they will likely start hiring attorney-advisors for these positions? Additionally since someone posted the number of ALJs that are expected to be hired for each location can someone give an estimate of how many attorney-advisors are hired for each ALJ? For instance in an office with say 9 ALJs, how many attorney advisors are expected to be hired?
Thanks

OPM is going to re-open the register soon - just watch USAJOBS on a daily basis and get your application in immediately - you might have a better chance at getting an ALJ job than an attorney advisor job as OPM seems to like state ALJs - they hired quite a few in the last rounds of hiring. I agree. Go for the ALJ position, texaslonghorn.

bronzedoor84 and privateatty:What are the requirements for an ALJ position or where can I find them? If I find that I don't have enough experience for an ALJ position then I will continue to look for and apply for attorney-advisor positions. Hey, I could always do both . I will continue to check the usajobs.opm.gov for ALJ openings but do either of you or anyone else know when and where they will post the positions for attorney-advisors? Thanks

deminimis:
Thanks for posting that link. I haven't been out of law school for seven years, let alone have seven years of legal experience lol. In any event as mentioned before I will just keep my eyes open for attorney advisor positions (especially in some of these new hearing offices). So does someone, anyone, know when and where these positions will be posted? Does anyone know how many attorney-advisors are hired for each ALJ?
Thanks
