To those who didn't get an email, I am truly sorry. I do feel bad sharing good news knowing someone else didn't get that same good news. Seems there are a lot of good candidates who haven't received the email about being placed on the register.

Apparently my email server is slower at posting new mail than some others, but I got the initial email (3 times). Still waiting on the one with attachments to complete. Of the cities listed, I only saw 2 of 8 that I had chosen. Both cities are in TX. Man did I luck out. Whew.

If you have not yet received the "ALJ Inquiry..." e-mail from SSA and you think you should, look in the junk mail section of your e-mail program and check other e-mail addresses you might have used. A friend found hers in the junk mail folder for hotmail.

Does the letter from SSA appear also in everyone's file on applicationmanager.org? (Please tell me "no!" Otherwise, I fear that I am not on the dance card. . .)

I assume that you left off Milwaukee, WI and Morgantown, WV inadvertently. If they weren't on your list, then your list is different than mine.

I too got the good news. I listed all locations. Just in case it helps some who think they should have gotten this, I had only a 61.53 score. At least we know they went that low on some of the locations.

The only item I have on application manager is the FEAI times four. The SSA email only came to my office email. Same for me. I've only received the FEAI and none of the other documents which would require action from me. Except mine did not come in an application manager - it came by e-mail. (And, for what it is worth and with regard to ALJHunter's other thread, I'm considered a "high scorer.") So who knows ?

I know that during the OPM phase, I didn't receive at least one of the emails that others reported getting. I would clarify with the people listed on the SSA email. They respond pretty quickly: While we expect to have all successful candidates enter on duty during the spring of 2008, the exact dates have yet to be determined. If you have any questions, you may contact Ms. Pat Rocheford on 703-605-8448 (pat.rocheford@ssa.gov); Ms. Susan Martinelli on 703-605-8445 (susan.martinelli@ssa.gov); or our main telephone number of 703-605-8440.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, maximo mea culpa. The omission of Morgontown and Milwaukee was indeed inadvertent.

That's MorganTOWN...Home of West Virginia University, my alma mater, and currently ranked #2 college football team in America! Although, as students, we used to refer to the town as MorganHOLE. Food for thought if you are thinking of working there...

It looks like they giving us all a chance to re-think our geographical preferences in light of our scores. Let me be the first to say: "mighty fair of them!" Of course, it may be that figuring out the top three by location became a logistical nightmare, as some on this board have suggested, and so the "sorting out" job has been left to SSA.
With my median score guess this weekend is a good time to hit the internet and figure out exactly which cities I really would go to!

I'm pretty sure that everyone received the same list, and that the list contains ONLY those locations where there are current vacancies. I initially selected limited locations in NY and NJ. The FEAI lists NYC (Manhattan), Queens and Newark, NJ, which I selected. The FEAI does not list Brooklyn, Bronx, Voorhees, NJ or Camden, NJ, which I also selected, so I'm assuming that there are no vacancies there. I'm also speculating that if anyone selected only a location where there is no vacancy, then he or she will not get canvas letter, but I could be wrong.

Is there a fairness question here? It appears that if you listed one of the cities on the FEAI list you can say yea or nay to any of them, regardless of what you previously indicated. However, if you did not list a city on the FEAI list, you do not get the opportunity to reconsider. That seems to me to be fundamentally unfair (I am on the cert so I am speaking against my own interest here) or else we are misinterpreting events. Could it be that this is an opportunity to subtract but not add cities? Any thoughts??

I think spective is right. The offices listed have openings (but how many?). Around 70 offices are listed with 150 judgeships, so vacancies could run from 1 to 3, 4? Who knoews at this point.
I am not so certain we will be able to change geographical preferences. That would seem to be unfair to those who were not contacted because they did not list a site referenced in the FEAI.
