Wow, I got the Notice of Certification to SSA. Unbelieveable!!! And I also received the FEAI. As with you, it contains a few of my listed preferences, but a whole bunch I didn't pick. It looks like we get a second chance to pick places we're willing to go.
Does this mean I will definately receive an interview?
Following the Notification of Certification I received an Interview & Background Questionaire Form requesting names of persons the background investigator will contact. Do I understand that we are to bring that completed questionaire form to the interview in Falls Church? The Certification email says not to respond to it.

I think that means don't respond to the email. The email says that you must fax this questionnaire in by Dec. 7, with the other three items, to continue being considered.

I also received the notice that I have been certified for SSA . I received one of the e-mails 3 times. The other e-mail is is a "Notification to ALJ Candidate" with attachments (background questionnaire consent and release form, etc). Good luck to everyone! Hope to meet you all if I make it to ALJ school!

Same message here, which appears to be a list of all SSA hearing offices.
I don't know whether ALL of those listed are targeted for hiring this time around, but I DO know that it includes places I did not list--such as Billings-in-the-Great-White-North Montana.

No, only those who listed a city in their geographical preference where there now is a vacancy.
The 64K question is how many high scorers are "out" I guess temporarily, because their listed city is not on THE LIST and how many erstwhile down in the dumps low scorers have been resurrected?
Previous suppositions appear to have been premature...

No, it's not a listing of all ODAR offices. You will note, as I suggested previously, none of the listed offices are in Region 1/Boston, i.e., Boston, Springfield, Manchester, Portland, Providence, Hartford, or New Haven; the closest openings appear to be in NYC and Albany. Again, Region 1 has the lowest pending-per-ALJ figures; hence, no new judges at this point. Sorry.

How many people got the same email, with all 71 locations? It seems to be a list of offices which will get new ALJs, rather than a list of offices for which my score qualifies inclusion on the list of 3.

Oldtimer, I'd really rather you not have been right on this point, but it certainly appears that way. An entire region ignored. Amazing. I still remain dumbfounded that Region 1 could not score a single opening. Why is it that Region 1 is so efficient? Oh, you know those New Englanders - so completely self-sufficient and all!!

Thank you for being kind in your description of OFedROs fate. That is precisely what happened. Only half the FedROs that were supposed to be hired for Region I got hired before Commr. Astrue made the decision that the resources intended for FedRO needed to be redirected to the Hearings level. Still, the appeal rate from FedRO is quite, quite low, so the receipts for the HOs in Region I are significantly lower than elsewhere. Of course, they were lower to begin with, which was why it was chosen as the starting point for DSI.
