Assuming hypothetically, an individual only listed Honolulu for the location where she would work.
Does that mean because Honolulu does not have a vacancy, said individual would not have received the FEIA and other email today?

Does that mean because Honolulu does not have a vacancy, said individual would not have received the FEIA and other email today? Bingo. That's why the advice to someone who really wants to have a shot at becoming an ALJ has always been to put down as many cities that you can stomach as possible. If you put down only a handful of popular cities, odds are you'll never get a call because all the desireable cities are usually filled up through intra-agency ALJ transfers first.

Does that mean because Honolulu does not have a vacancy, said individual would not have received the FEIA and other email today? If that is what occurred, it was a bad choice. Hawaii has only one judge. There is a long waiting list for transfers. None of those on the transfer list has a hope of selection because the slot is filled competitively by the selection of a Chief through a process that by-passes the transfer list. There is ZERO chance of a new hire being selected for this location. There will not be an opening there for a new hire unless the whole structure changes. If that is the only place she is willing to go, either give it up or revise your list of acceptable locations.

I have to agree with peejay. Initially, I selected only one city and got bypassed several times until I expanded my list of locations. So, it really comes down to what you really want. The ALJ position or "a job" in Honolulu.

Afraid I have to echo what everyone else has already said. I know I am boringly repetitive but if you select only one site, and it is a popular one, you have almost no chance of getting selected.
These sites are filled by the transfer list, or the agency basically lies and gives a "hardship" transfer to one of its pets. Hardship is what the agency decides is a hardship and includes HOCALJ's who really, really want to move to site XXXXX; or RCALJ"S that Falls Church wants to get rid off for some reason. Let em pick a site and presto they have been moved.

Thanks for the responses.
I used Honolulu as a hypo location because I was curious as to how the FEIA process worked and because Honolulu was not on the FEIA. I actually chose all locations.
