The process IS what it is; whomever made the cert, made the cert; whomever gave a good interview, gave a good interview; whomever gets an offer will get an offer. Let's be supportive of each other and not wonder if there is some vast conspiracy to keep any set of individuals down when it just doesn't appear that there is such. I agree. Seems there's too much thinkin' goin' on at times!

Well, for those of us who prefer the book to the musical (and the book "Wicked" really IS better than the musical), the quote: "An unexamined life is not worth living" is actually attributed to Socrates, of course.....ah'm jus sayin' ......it came before Broadway.
I liked the musical better. The song is about the joys of being callow and the unexamined life. Socrates loved a drinking party but couldn't carry a tune. Plato could stick it away (at least according to Monty Python). Anyway, we are way of topic now, but wanted to defend one of the better musicals in the last few years.

Socrates loved a drinking party but couldn't carry a tune. Plato could stick it away (at least according to Monty Python). Yup, way off topic, but I can't resist: Emmanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable. Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table. David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel. There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach 'ya 'bout the raising of the wrist. Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed. John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, after half a pint of shandy was particularly ill. Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day! Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, and Hobbes was fond of his Dram. And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: "I drink, therefore I am." Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed; A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed! - MPFC (Monty Python's Flying Circus)

Seeing aljsouth's post made me realize that the answer to tater's original query may well be answered in Court as the Union is suing OPM and alleging it "packed" the register (or tried to) with government insiders. Although it does seem a very, very steep hill in terms of proving it. What I can't understand is why they would allege this? What would be their motive?
But it is a dead horse. I mean its a miracle I'm here given my colossal ignorance at the time. And how many ODAR attys have said on these pages, I dunno why I made it and others didn't. Reminds me of the War, but don't get me started...
And let's not forget 3OW de-camped on this issue (I think, but I'm not sure). I miss him and his sharp retorts.
As to the credibility issue vs. litigators or non-litigators (or light on litigating experience), that deserves another thread as it is a fascinating issue. Takers anyone?
