I must admit, much to my own chagrin, that I find myself checking my email on a daily basis, hoping to see *something* from OPM. Not just my main inbox, mind you, but the spam/junk folder as well.
At this point it isn't a matter of expecting to go to the next phase of the process, more of just wanting to know that the process has actually...proceeded...
Am I the only neurotic one who has reached that stage?
I think the tipping point was seeing the information about SIs being scheduled for July-September...

I've been doing the same thing. For me, it was exciting to discover that OPM was readying for the SIs, but what really got me nervous (ok, neurotic) was all of the talk about OPM scrapping the current examination process. This far in, I've already invested a lot of time, effort, and hope.

I don't bother to check my email as frequently as you, but I do check the Board here daily figuring I would see something from another poster when things start to move. I only check my email address used for OPM every few days. You know the proverb "a watched kettle (pot) never boils", so I think it best to just remain calm and not get your hopes up too high. Another proverb "good things come to those who wait" is my motto as with patience one feels much less stress.

I admit I do the same. I have only one address and check it constantly for work anyway, but now I check spam and this list serve daily. Not exactly nervous, but anxious about my schedule for the coming months if I am lucky enough to get to the next step. And I do mean lucky since the selection process so far seems pretty random.

I too find the board the best place to watch - I was one of the last to receive notice that I passed the initial stage, so I don't place too much emphasis on my e-mail at this stage (although I do monitor it some ) Has everyone in this thread visiting the polling page to place their vote guestimating which week the emails will start arriving? I find it some what cathartic and also a bit amusing to watch the voting patterns as they change over time as well as with the news posted here. And my favorite comment on this process is to remember this process is more a marathon than a sprint - pace yourselves!!

I enjoy this board a great deal, I agree with some statements, and disagree with others. It is very nice to know that others wait like me, and I am not the only one waiting, I wish the best to everyone on here, and thanks to the folks that started this board, it is a great place to keep updated.

This process is anything but random. It only seems that way to you because you are on the outside looking in.

Hi Pixie, my Goddess. If the newbies only knew how much knowledge and wisdom they miss by you not being as active as you once were, they would cry. Those were the days, although, I pity the newbies, as it sounds like they have such little Agency knowledge or heritage. Someday they will be the old ones, but they still won't have shared what we shared... We will always have Paris.. Or at least Falls Church..

Bartleby, I believe you are showing a little conceit and a little contempt in your post. It is best not to demean the knowledge or skills of the "newbies" as a group, especially since each of their knowledge and skill level is uniquely different. When you paint with a broad brush you usually end up with paint on yourself. I think it best if one doesn't make blanket statements about a group as a whole. My post is not meant as a condemnaton, but only an observation.

My post is not meant as a condemnaton, but only an observation. While I agree that Bartleby's post may come off as sounding somewhat "holier than thou", I have lurked on the board for a long time before becoming a member and have also read many of the old threads that date back to the inception of the board. Based on my readings, as a newbie myself, I take no offense to Bartleby's comments and realize his comments are all in good fun. I know all of us newbies are somewhat frazzled by the process and we all have our own busy lives. However, I would recommend reading some of the old posts from the prior openings of the ALJ examinations posted on this Board to get a sense of the history of the Board itself and its contributors. It is not only informative by rather interesting from a sociological standpoint concerning human interactions. As stated, we all have our busy lives, but we must also realize that this Board has been around for far longer than this current opening of the examination process. If you want to read some stuff that will make you laugh out loud, shake your head, mutter disagreement, roll your eyes or say "Wow, I didn't know that", then take some time and go back through the posts around the time the prior examinations and certs were bing pulled to see how the newbies back then were dealing with a similar situation. In the end, my thanks to Pixie and ALJDiscussion for creating the Board. It has answered a ton of questions for me and, for the ones that I didn't know the answers to, I always received a civil response. Best of luck to all!

I would advise everyone that comes to this board to review as many old posts as possible. The amount of information that can be gleaned from current and former applicants as you relive their triumphs and tragedies. There have been a lot of great and helpful posters over the years in addition to those still around. My only regret was finding this board after PatriotsFan had all of his posts removed.

Of course, I appreciate the knowledge from the "old-timers" and I have read through the earlier posts. I was not personally insulted by Bartleby's comments, but I just wanted to to see if Bartleby could take some additional "ribbing" himself. I don't take seriously too much of what is said aqainst others on this Board by members. I have learned a long time ago to have a "thick skin" and not let little things or jokes bother me. Hence, my comment was not meant in anyway as an insult or comdemnation, but was an observation made in jest. I am so glad "exjag" got the gist of my post. Thanks for clarifying it for me "exjag", before I could do it myself.

My heart truly breaks for you all. I mean that. When I was going through this maddening process, Pixie was our ray of light. She was almost always right in her posts. The problem now is that there are no seasoned veterans in the new process. You all are the new fodder, to be chewed up and spitten out, and many will be. That is the nature of the beast. However, the few that do make it through will be the new Guru's of the future applicants. Us oldsters have not seen the uncharted waters you are going through. We are kindred hearts, having gone through a process, but not your process. We pray that you will step up and attempt to assist those behind you. We can offer little more than common sense and encourage patience at this point. Bartleby ubderstands and appreciates your frustration. Further Bartleby knows moopigsdad is more frustrated at Bartleby than some because he knows Bartleby loves kitties more than funny looking dogs..

Thanks Bartleby, and although these waters be uncharted, I have found great guidance and wisdom from reading the earlier posts and greatly appreciate the thoughtful and cogent contributions found in such abundance here. I believe I got through the first stage in significant part because of the advice found here. Of course, I also enjoy the occasional ribbing and joking as well. Any one else feel like getting a hot dog?

Bartleby and some of the others here are now the old rats around the barn who can offer advice and be the calming influence.
I just don't have time like I used to have.
Take care, Pix.

One last request Pix, if you don't have the time no problem. Previously you mentioned the Middlesboro, KY office but you did not say it was closing, thhat was the context of the post, someone was asking if it was closing. You did mention there were problems there. Do you have any updated info on this office you can share?
