Has anyone reported a rough estimate of what time day 1 ended? We finished at around 4:00 yesterday, or just after. I was back at my hotel (State Plaza - 2 block walk) by 4:30, after a bathroom pit stop and turning in my visitor badge.

Crab - It ended at about 4:30 for my group. And to answer your earlier question, the federal attorneys were from all over the place, not just DC/environs.

We ended around 4:20, but finally got out around 4:30. and yes Funky - one was all I needed. I felt lucky to get the opportunity, so I wasn't going to take any chances with more!!

Hopeful, that was good - where's the d$#m like button!!! Between 4:30 and 4:45 I managed to inhale more bad nicotine before entering my smoke-free hotel. Then I was at my hotel happy hour - had to get my drinks in early so it wouldn't effect my SI performance!! All was good and worked out better than planned. I hope you get the same *legit* break to have a regular smoke. You guys are too funny sometimes!!!

As many of you know, I tested last week and while waiting for the SI, in the waiting room there were 9 of us I think. Five from NY, one from TX, One from California and two others from other states whose names seem to escape me but they were Midwest I believe. In my SI waiting room it was 3 from California, 1 Virginia, 1 Georgia, and 2 NY (one upstate, one NYC).

As for the SSN theory, I think it looks pretty well validated. Not that it really matters or means anything at all in the long run. Guess just fun to figure out how they decided who was scheduled when. Just keep in mind (and many have pointed this out) that it doesn't matter where the people came from (where they are living/working now) what matters for the SSN theory is where it was issued. Some will be birth place if you are young, older folks will be where you applied for one to get your first job, and some in between. It is different now, they issue them right away, but years ago it was later in life and corresponded to where you lived at the time of application....so you may be born in VA but lived in TN when you applied for the SSN so you will have the TN numbering. Now, the numbering is supposedly random so it no longer matches anything like it did years ago.

To verify: all scores will be issued on the same day?

To verify: all scores will be issued on the same day? The announcement states that everyone gets an NOR after these last tests have been scored, including those who did not get to phase 3. Whether they all come out in the same 24 hour period, given that there will be thousands of them to send, who knows. They will all come out "together" I think, whether it takes 24 or 48 or whatever hours to do it.

For those who are planning on staying at the Embassy Suites both nights, it is about a thirty minute walk from there to the OPM building. It is a fairly straight shot crossing through the George Washington University area. I haven't taken the exam yet but I live local and thought it was a nice day for a walk, so I went ahead and walked the route today(which is Saturday, no work traffic but a fair amount of tourists).

One more thought: From speaking with other candidates, it was my impression that the typical candidate does NOT have a wide GAL. Could be wrong; I certainly didn't speak about this to anything even close to all the people being tested. But of those I did speak to, a ton only want the job in their own locality.

Then they either don't understand the process or they really can't move anywhere else whether they understand the process or not. Anyone who has been on this board knows that if you want the job badly enough, you have to be willing to go elsewhere. Only those who are currently living in places that are not "popular" are still going to be OK with a narrow GAL, if the stars all fall in the proper configuration.

Should I advance, my intent is to further narrow my already very limited GAL. It is not that I don't understand the process or cannot move elsewhere. I guess I don't "want this job badly enough." Put another way, I have peace of mind with the choices I'm making -- and if I don't land a position in the couple of cities where I want to live and know I'd be happy, c'est la vie.
