The attached end of FY-2007 annual report on how SSA plans to tackle the existing hearings backlog is revealing, and may be useful to those pending interview who desire to know how their skills and experience may be useful to SSA in this evolution. This report itemizes nicely all of the initiatives/improvements planned, most of which have an FY-2008 implementation date. It is candid and revealing, and will educate you well for your interview and, if hired, your future! P.S. I apologize if this has been previously posted -- I don't recall seeing it before. Best of luck to everyone. www.ssa.gov/appeals/annual2007_12_7.pdf

SSA has been trying to improve the production numbers for some time. Unfortunately, as more apps are filed, the number of employees have been decreasing.
One of the successful plans was the SA adjudicators. Although the present manifestation is better than not having the signatory authority, and we are meeting goals in our office, if the authority to order VE inetrrog and CE's had been included, I think that would have served to move cases faster. But, the administration has opted not to include that at this time. Fortunately, though, with the push to hire more ALJ's this FY and next, this should jumpstart the quicker disposition of cases, regardless of grant or denial.

Region told our office that our office monthly goal was raised 10 cases per senior attorney per month, BUT the cases decided by the senior attorneys would not toward the goal. Yes, you did read that correctly.

We were informed that the SA goals were 27-30 per month, depending on month length, with 3 SA's. I have not heard that the decisions would not count for the office monthly goals.
