Hey, I never thought the Giants would beat the Pack, I sure don't think they'll beat the juggernaut Patriots. As a confirmed Steeler fan I can't really ROOT for the Patriots, but it does appear to be the year Miami's champagne stays corked. And I have to admit that, knowing of patriotsfan's disappointment in this arena, I'm rooting for HIM/HER a little bit next Sunday!
Football is fun, if/when I get the opportunity I'm going to start a skiing thread, too, as that seems to be a common hobby among us. In the meantime, everyone enjoy your non-football weekend (I'm betting some of us who've been to the Super Bowl can find re-runs on ESPN or its progeny...)
Also, I'm among the end of the interview line - next Wed. @ 9:00. If any of you will be joining me be sure and signal. I've enjoyed this board immensely. Hoping to be part of the class, but if not, at least I'll know the Judges I'm practicing before in the future will be among the best!

Not that I like it, but I think NE will win. Tom Brady gives me a pain. However, we are having the party at our house and I'm making sub sandwiches and the guests are bringing the rest. Anyone who wants to come by, feel free! I will watch it mostly for the commercials anyway since neither team is one of my personal favorites.
My prediction is NE 35, NYG 10.

Patriots 37 Giants 10. New England stops using Moss as a decoy and he scores 3 times.

My prediction is Patriots 21, Giants 17. But Patriots Fan, even if the Pats achieve perfection, they have not been dominant. No, I think we can all agree that the 85 Bears were the most dominant NFL team. Ever. Even with a midget Ditka. A25

I was in law school, in Beantown, when the Pats made their Cinderella Superbowl appearance and were creamed by duh Bears. I'll probably be a closet Pats fan for life (in my hometown, we wear green).

You are all pretty close to the target. That means we will all be wrong; however, The Pixie says 31 -- 17 to NE, one of the all time top teams in professional football. But let's not forget Johnny Unitas and the "real" Colts. Now that was a football team!* Pix.
____
*Of course we need to conveniently forget Joe Namath and Super Bowl III. I'm not old enough to remember that far back, obviously, but I do remember my Dad and his friends talking about Unitas and his favorite receiver, Jimmy Orr, who was only 5' 10".

Do Pixies age like the rest of us ? No, we are forever young. But we do get cold in this weather when we fly around. As you will remember from past movies and pictures, we are required to be half naked when we fly. That gets mighty cold in the wintertime. Might be why we never age much-- all of this darting about in cold weather. Pix.

My hope is Giants 28 Pats 24; unfortunately, I think it will be Pats 34 Giants 20.
It's terrible when your own brain turns against you.

patriotsfan: Conan loves beating NY teams too (especially the Yankees!) but the Giants will do nicely as the Pats machine rolls one more time for all the marbles. Does anyone really believe that after a perfect season, Belichick and Brady are going to blow it?! No way. B&B are going to show the Giants things they have never seen before and it will all be over before the Giants know what hit them. Conan will only predict that the Patriots will win and that, my friends, is all that counts. ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! ("Go Pats!"). CTB

Patriotsfan, nothing against you, but I can't stand the Pats. There was that telling infraction earlier in the year and then there is that arrogance. My beloved Broncos used to beat them, years ago of course. But I do love Junior Seau. Yes, this is ultimately an intellectual exercise, wrapped in emotion.

8-)Well the Giants played the Patriots fairly well in the last regular season game, even with everyone writing them off. After that game, they beat the Bucaneers and the Cowboys on the road. Those teams were no slouches, and Eli came into his own. So what I think you have shaping up here is a classic Super Bowl game. If I placed a bet on this game, it would be even, and I wouldn't give any points. You got two quarterbacks going head to head, one experienced, and one on the way.

Long time Giants fan - I hope their confidence gets them into the 4th quarter. Even then, I don't think so. Something about Brady, especially against no pass rush. Last minute touchdown, come from behind again. NE 30 NY/G 24.

Pixire, I am old enough to remember all the Super Bowls (to the extent that I remember anything anymore).
I would like to pick the Giants over the Patriots but, as a Steelers fan, I well remember the many times Plexiglass Burress let down the Gold and Black and I feel that he will cost the Giants dearly.
BTW, any of the Steelers' Super Bowl teams in the 1970s would have pounded the 1985 Bears into the turf. I say this even though in the part of Pennsylvania where I grew up if a woman says of a man that he looks like Mike Ditka, it is a high compliment.
