So, we know who among us have interviewed, but among us, who's got the latest interview date? We know someone is going next week, but are any of us going the week of 2/4?
We had heard interviews would go through 2/8. Do we know if any were actually scheduled that week? Do we know if any had to be scheduled later than that?

The latest interview I've heard of is February 1.

The 11/30/07 e-mail sent from Claire Evans of SSA with the header"ALJ letter of inquiry from SSA" that those of us on the cert received said: "In the next few weeks, you will be contacted to schedule a personal interview which will be held between January 7 and February 1, 2008, in Falls Church, VA." According to the e-mail, next Friday is the last interview day.

JH, I think we do care based on the theory that the faster they complete the interviews and reference checks, the sooner they start the selection process. I for one am ready to get on with it one way or another.

Not that the hag needs defending, a good hag can defend herself - and I've seen many do so nicely in my time (not to mention defend me in the process), but perhaps she is considering the more existential question: as in why do we care, or as she later wrote, "it will go as fast as it goes." I suspect that she is obsessed with the obsessing that we all seem to be engaging in, and trying to redirect us towards a healthier waiting period.
Folks, for some of us that don't make it, the crash is going to be pretty hard. If you don't believe me, read back through the posts on this and the other board. A bit of questioning now and then, is good for all of us. It keeps our heads on straight.

<<sigh>> No, it was not my intention to be condescending and - wow- if that is how it comes across, my darkest (and sincerest) apologies to those offended. (And clearly someone was - smite, smack, smote! Ouch.)
Dr. Who is correct; I am wondering how the obsessing does anybody any good. "Omigawd, I'm an outsider! No, I'm an insider! No, I'm a vet! The Rule of Three."...and, as the King of Siam said, "Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera." It crosses my mind that all the angst behind the endless examination of the minutia of the logistics of this process is not alleviated by that same examination. Talking about what it's like to be an ALJ, good - helps us determine if, indeed, that is what we want. Talking about the interview seems good - how'd I do ? (" Wow, sounds like I did like everybody else. <<whew>>") Posting information on when the classes might start, very good - especially for those who probably will be in them; allows them to make some tentative plans. Talking about the Superbowl and how we are alphabetizing our spices or playing catch with our dogs, also good - helps us feel not so alone in our agitation. But....the thin line between "how's it goin'" and OMIGAWDWHENWILLTHISAGONYEND? seems to get a little thin now and then. Maybe it's my age (centuries, dears, centuries...) but a little more Zen in this matter might be in order.
Again, didn't mean to be condescending - no feelings in that regard at all.

Didn't appear condescending to me, but then I tend to be rather laid back.

I interview on the morning of 2/1. My interview was not scheduled until I called an checked on its status just before Christmas, leading me to believe that this was the last day that the interviews were being held.

Thanks Lee. I appreciate the information. I think this is what aaa was looking for. Anybody else have a later date/reschedule?

No later date that I have heard. When I called SSA in December to schedule my interview, I was told that the last day for interviews was 2/1/08.

A bit of questioning now and then, is good for all of us. It keeps our heads on straight. I can't stand it when posts get edited! For what? Are our sensibilities that tender that we can't handle the little "stinkbombs" jagghagg throws into the room? Puleeze! I LOVE her "stinkbombs"! She ain't goin' after anybody! She's just bein' jagghagg, whom I for one really like! (Yes jagghagg, like Sally Fields-we really really like you--well at least some of us anyway). A little confession, my 85 yr old Dad reads this stuff and guess about whom he asks "...hey what do you know about this gal?" "Not much, Dad." Which of course isn't true, I know what we all read here and I like what I see. Let me ask you guys, gals a question. If you are in a court of competent jurisdiction and the court asks you to defend a flagbgurnin' sob, are you going to say "no your Honor, we don't do that?" Do you folks believe in what you swore an oath to defend--the Bill of Rights? I may get really tee'd off at jagghagg, but so what. She stirs a pot that as was pointed out, badly needs stirring. She gets under your skin...good for her. And better for us. I PRAY I'm in training class with her. Gosh what fun! So much more fun than 1st year torts. I may despise the flag-burnin sob, but I will defend on my life the right of him to burn... No, she doesn't need defending. But this needs to be said. Seems some of us, one of us, whomever, are/is really uptight and are taking it out on the wrong person. Look within. I cherish the discussion here. Thanks to the workdrone, we have this outlet. One person's poop in the backyard is another's fertilizer. I'm growing friends.

To respond to the string, jagghagg makes me think outside my own little insulated box. Sometimes that's tough but nonetheless, it makes me think and it makes me better. That I can live with! Are she and I different? Yup. Is that bad? Absolutely not!
As for will it hurt when not all of us are selected? It will - no doubt about it, and I kind of think if it doesn't maybe we weren't in it for the right reasons. If we didn't want to be hired, and many of us hired by SSA, then we wouldn't be here at this point. I think it would be great to have all of us in one class but I have to realize that some (many?) of us won't be selected. Sucks like a big green weenie, but it's reality.
As for me thinking that 2/8 was the last interview date, I must have been confused I guess. I don't know if I saw some agency/management email that made me think that or if my brain went on overload. I agree that having the last interview on 2/1 will hopefully make for an earlier decision on the selections. For the spoiled rotten only child like me, I want it and I want it RIGHT NOW! But as my grandmother always told me "Right now's gone!"
Maybe we should start another string to start the pot on when the first selection call will go out!
