Maybe we never hear from him again, like the end of Good Will Hunting. He had to go see about a GAL?

Good luck to all with interviews, especially to my bro, funky, with his interview. However, I am quite sure he is hitting a home run and will be picked up.

You guys smell that? Just got a little funky in here. Good to be back. Thanks for all the well wishes and PMs. I have quite a bit of reading to do to figure out just where you guys all are at present. To start, my details: To date, none of my references have reported being contacted. I have, however, been scheduled to nterview the week of June 2. Congrats and good luck to everyone.

Its been said before, but it bears repeating. Don't make the mistake of a few posters in the past who (for reasons of work and family) decided to John Wayne the whole thing and come in a few hours earlier and leave the same day--but then got waylaid by a canceled flight and weather delays. The last thing you need is a nail-biting OMG moment while sitting in Chicago or Dallas and be told that you won't get in until 9:30 that night. A dollar saved is a chance walk on the high-wire. Of course, ODAR may well re-schedule and it likely won't affect your interview, but this part of the process is still highly subjective no matter how they like to color it. Only the interviewers and the DCALJ know what effect a late re-sschedule may have. You know yourself best. If this type of scenario won't raise your blood pressure by one point, by all means cut it close. If on the other hand you are prone to increased blood pressure, olafactory evidence of stress or high brow perspiration, then you may want to treat yourself to a good night's sleep in a soft hotel bed.

Might they make weekend calls? If so, references only? Or interviews as well?

Am I the only one who has not been contacted to set up an interview, and also not had references contacted?

Am I the only one who has not been contacted to set up an interview, and also not had references contacted? Yes. Just kidding....probably. I strongly suspect they are just calling people in the order they are on their cert list, ie alphabetical. When the certs came out, there was that first group of 84 that was apprently A through one L last named person (based on the emails). Those same folks that first reported getting on the certs were the first to report getting set up for interviews too. And, I am early in the second group, with a good friend with the same letter last name. We both got calls yesterday, mine just a few minutes before his. So, HL, if your last name is in the second half of the alphabet you probably have nothing to worry about. If it's "Aaron",,,,well, you are probably screwed

Just to avoid even the remote possibility of additional stress, which I know funky didn't intend to create, I know the alpha theory is at least not 100% correct. I also note that it doesn't seem that reference checks are always done before interview calls, which suggests to me that everyone on the cert gets an interview.

I am sure everyone on the cert will be interviewed, especially since we are talking less than 170 people where SSA used to interview closer to 300 in the past. I know it's hard to be patient, but please try to be. I am sure you will get the call soon. Interviews are not starting until June.

Thanks...I guess it is just at every step of the process I am more surprised and grateful to be continuing on that I wonder if it will end up like one of the NCAA basketball tournament Cinderella stories...an improbable run to the Final Four, only to be thumped by Duke or Kentucky. Just yesterday I spoke to someone I knew had gone to the DC testing. I assumed he had aced it and was on the cert. I was surprised when he said he didn't pass the WD.

I also note that it doesn't seem that reference checks are always done before interview calls, which suggests to me that everyone on the cert gets an interview. My references haven't been contacted yet and I was called on Thursday, FWIW. I am in the "later" half of the alphabet, and I was contacted later in the week - I also sent my packet in on Thursday evening. Alpha might be the default order, with exceptions causing some breaks in that. On a side note - I guess this journey is coming to a close for many of us - and the good news is, with a second cert looming (and without all the associated logistics of online testing, traveling to OPM on our own dimes, gnashing of teeth about "registers", deciphering cryptic "inside information" - at least not as much, etc.) - those of us who may get left behind in late June/early July may only have a few months wait before a second, large round of hiring - with many of those pesky high-scorers and vets out of the way. Can I say it is a good time to be in this group right now? Would that jinx the whole deal?

Questions on the SSA Interview
1. Who put the bomp in the bomp-she-bomp-she-bomp? 2. Where were you on the night of the 23rd between 2 and 4 AM? 3. How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? 4. What is the sound of one hand clapping? 5. Why did Bodhidharma come from the West? 6. And, of course --- Where's the money Lebowski?

Shirley, you jest!

Seriously? The very first post on this General Board is "No Discussion of SI specifics, please," along with a reminder that we all signed a non-disclosure agreement and a warning that "the SSI and SSA Interview details are not to be disclosed."
