Not including your current/prior supervisors, how many of your references have been contacted by the private company hired to perform background checks?

8 within about a week of interview. 2 had to call back a number of times, but only 1 was able to make contact, so the minimum of 7 was reached.

Only two that I know of - one is a colleague and one is an opposing counsel. I'm not in daily contact with some of the people I listed, so others may have been contacted and just haven't gotten around to telling me.

I only have confirmation from 5 references but checked 7 because one reference was told that they had spoken to their quota of references for me. I have not heard from any of the opposing counsel I listed but assume some of them were contacted.

Like counsel, I marked "six or more"; one of my references (who was out of the office for a week and returned Yale's call when he got back) was told they had contacted enough references without waiting for him, and my file had been sent on (where it was sent, was not specified).
Two personal references, two ALJs, my present HOCALJ, and a former supervisor told me they were called; the HOD in my office was also contacted. Other references I listed may not have called me --I did not hear from any I had listed in the "opposing counsel" category, but I am no longer in frequent contact with them. All contacts were within two days of my interview.

I should have read your first post before answering the poll. I marked two references, but both of them were former employers. I was called by a lady who was contacting my work references. She told me that the references were split into four categories and assigned to different people to make the contact. As far as I can tell so far, only these two former employers have been contacted.

I don't get it: how come so few people have responded to this poll? At this point only about 1/3 of the folks responding to the other polls have weighed-in on this one. I'm a pretty curious person and so I contacted my references when I heard a few calls went out, and when some reported that no one at Yale/Omnisec returned their calls, but did others just not care to follow-up?

I'm w/allrise, what this poll may need is an "I dunno" category - three of my references told me they'd been called, but I did not inquire of the others, even my immediate boss whom I see on a daily basis! I guess I figured if they wanted to tell me, they would, and if they didn't, they didn't. Frankly, I'm so amazed that I've made it this far in this process (w/no government employment in my background, hence very little knowledge of how applying for a job with the federal government even works!) that I'm just enjoying the ride. I do know that I love this group and will miss you all when the decisions are made and I no longer look here first time I log on to my computer at work or at home...

I only know of four besides my immediate supervisor. However, one of my references was informed that my file had been forwarded with all of the required references, whatever that means.
