Tomorrow's topic is DA&A. Tomorrow the Limoncello will be ready. Coincidence? I think not. The limoncello will be material to you getting through that DAA lecture.

Beloved Daughter, Your Mother and I are so very proud of all you've achieved, though your crafts projects are part of a disturbing pattern. We do have some good news for you. As soon as you return home from Baby ALJ Camp we are sending you to another delightful camp that was founded by our dear old friend, Betty Ford. All Our Love, Dad

All Our Love, Dad Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bags: We have received and thank you for your application for admission of your daughter, patient B.L., to our facility for treatment. You certainly have provided ample evidence of her problem in your attached documentation from online message board(s). Unfortunately, in reviewing your documentation it has become clear that her problem is a quite natural and, some would say, inevitable reaction to the stress of dealing with certain government agencies regarding what started as a simple job application. It appears she has adopted this somewhat indulgent life-style due to the bureaucratic red tape, delay and frustration inherent in such endeavors. While we are sympathetic to her problem(s), we consider them a valid coping mechanism, and not a condition needing a cure. Therefore we must respectfully decline your application. Yours Truly, BF Clinic

Yours Truly, BF Clinic Dear Betty Ford Clinic Powers That Be, Unless you have a spare liver for our dear daughter, this will not do. I have never before heard of your facility turning away anyone ready, willing, and able to pay your bajillion dollar a day fees. And besides that, our troubled girl is a legacy, since we were personal friends of the late lamented Betty Ford. That alone would get her into an Ivy League school. Surely you are not more exclusive than Harvard! I am sure you would hate it if your decision caused our poor daughter to spiral downward to a residence in a refrigerator box under a bridge. And you know she herself has had a premonition of such a fate--she chooses to be called "Bag Lady," for God's sake! We beg you to reconsider, since this is a matter of life and death! Respectfully, Mr. and Mrs. Bags

Dear Bags,
Now I know why you ran away from home.
Sincerely,
A Secret Admirer Who Hopes You Will Pass Down Your Coping Mechanism Recipes to Future Classes (and perhaps share them with certain colleagues posted to Middle Earth)

Gary, When you wrote ". . .I am sure you would hate it if your decision caused our poor daughter to spiral downward to a residence in . . ."
I thought you mispelled the hotel name - its the residence Inn oh well, I have come to expect excellent puns from my fellow poster, so I guess I read too much into your post . . . sigh.

The food wasn't "stellar" when I did my month there or my follow-up week there but the food would have to be much much much much worse than it was for me to not joyfully eat it while thinking of per diem dollars headed to my pocket.

This brings up an interesting lifestyle/philosophy issue. I know of Judges who happily eat McDonalds and pocket per diem. Others, like me, appreciated that which private practice afforded and eat well--whether at home or on the road. There will be plenty of time to eat cheaply, I figure--like when I retire. And eating well and cheaply are not mutually exclusive if you know how to shop and cook. Alot of bean counters took alot of time to arrive at the per diem rate. I say treat your stomach well and it will treat you well.

Dear cabin mates:
Well, it is nice to be home, but I sure do miss you. In the end, camp went by fast and I learned so much! I realized when I got home to my rather remote western piece of land that I had not seen the moon or the stars for a month. I stood in the backyard and enjoyed the view of the night sky and thought of all of you.
Here's to next year! Take care and be timely and legally sufficient...
