I liked the new internal letter from Judge Bice regarding transfer lists. So helpful to find where you are on the list from the DART menu. Interesting. So you no longer have to be a member of the AALJ (or at least have to ask a member) to have access to your spot on the transfer lists?

So to be sure I understand: I know you can't transfer for two years once you accept a transfer, but do you also fall completely off the list during that time? For example, if you accept city A, do you retain your spot on the list for cities B-E, and you just can't actually go for two years (you'd be skipped)? Or do you drop off of the list for B-E and have to start over at the bottom in 2 years?

They are apparently working the list boys and girls. I just got my transfer offer. And a friend just advised they got an offer for a city not on the recent certs.

LOL! Thanks again for giving me my laugh of the day. My post was in jest to HT and Tigerlaw. I like both of them, but I like to harass them, too. It's a shame you won't fit in at the senior discount "all you can eat buffet" in town, like the other two can.

The thing about the TL being worked now is that it shuffles the deck on locations with job openings. We may have a few surprises in the upcoming email.

Banks is having a sale Hilltopper and I have already purchased the shirt for Funky, it's his welcome home present! Now we will have to change our name from the Tupelo twins! Maybe the Gruesome threesome! Glad to see Funky coming back home, they miss him here in this office.

If you could never...ever ever ever ever ever...use the word "threesome" in any context that includes me, I would greatly appreciate it. Now I have to pay for a keyboard....

Thanks all. I must say, I feel very blessed well beyond anything I deserve. I was incredibly lucky to land this gig and, then to get a relatively quick transfer back home.... the stars most definitely aligned.
It isn't frowned upon to seek a transfer. Everyone in the agency knows how this works and that people want to get where they want to be. That said, remember you aren't eligible till you have been an ALJ for 90 days and to come in on the first day and immediately begin strategizing transfer plans is a bit tacky. Give the new place a chance. i can tell you that but for family issues that essentially require me moving back, I would love to stay in this little slice of crapland. The people here are amazing and the office is one of the best and smoothest run operations in the empire.
By the effective date of my transfer, I will have been here six months (including 1 month in Falls Church). That's half a year away from the family and I was, after the 90 days, #1 on the list to transfer to my own personal crapland nirvana. I was a first cert hire and first on that transfer list and it took 6 months (admittedly 3 of which I wasnt eligible) to get back home. I think that may be about the best one could hope for under the new rules and cert process. Expect a much longer wait if you want to go to a popular place.
Moral of the story....best to go only to a place you could actually see yourself live and go with an open mind. That crapland may just grow on you.

Well and you get to go to a slice of crapland where they sell situational bourbon.
