Question about rejecting all locations on this cert. I guess the answer is obvious, but I just want to confirm. I was referred for only one location and was quickly called to schedule the interview, which I did. It now appears that I need to decline that one (only) location. The original e-mail indicates that I should just send back the GAL without the other documents, along with an explanation as to why I am declining. I assume they cancel the interview? I would not still attend the interview for other possible locations in the future. Is that right?
Thanks.

IRN,
That should be right. They would cancel the interview. But, it appears some rather odd actions with cities on the cert have been going on. At present you just have the one city you want to decline....but the way this seems to be unfolding, you may get an email next week adding you to some other cities (if in your gal). I might hold off for a few days and see what happens. Just my 02/100ths.

So... I asked about turning down an interview verse turning down an offer in a different thread. I know I'm kind of beating a dead horse with these questions and this next one might sound odd, but let me ask just ONE more... I understand that I will be banned for some time from this one location if I strike it before the interview. However, if I were to get an ALJ position at a different location, I would not necessarily be banned from putting in for a transfer to the location I originally struck (after 90 days on the job), would I?
Thanks.

Agreed! This is the first news in 3 days of anyone getting new/amended GALs. Good luck on the interview, and I hope you get all your paperwork in, because Itsrealnow...

Have any high scorers with a wide open GAL gotten that email? Has anyone else gotten the email. I just checked and I haven't. I should have time to get a poll up tomorrow but I really want to get all the cities on it this time.
If you don't want to send the list to me or post it here please send it to ALJD or Funky or somebody and ask them to anonymize it before they post it. I will of course respect your request if you want anonymity but I understand if you want somebody else but please help us all by getting us the list.
Thanks

The city that was added to the amended GAL is Newark, NJ. I just figured that nobody else put in for it because you have to shoot your way in and shoot your way out each day... JK.

I just got an amended GAL that doubled my available 9 cities to 18 Added were Creve Coeur, MO, Newark, NJ, Syracuse, NY, a bunch of OHIO (now there is Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Akron, Toledo), Fort Wane and Evansville, IN, and I might be misssing some. Edit: The deadline to re-submit is 11/20

BACK UP PLAN As far as hotels go, I interviewed last week and stayed at one of the recommended locations, then stayed the weekend (at my own expense) to spend time with my daughter who lives in Arlington. I moved to the Residence Inn in Ballston, an area in Arlington, which is maybe 15 minutes away. If you are not driving and need to hop a taxi anyway, I recommend it. Whenever I was in and out there were plenty of taxis waiting. It's on Quincy.

Do we know whether these spots are opening up because other people have struck them from their GALs or if ODAR is actually filling more positions?
And how tough is it to get a get a taxi from Union Station to Falls Church during rush hour?

For the taxi question, it might be safer to take the Metro from Union Station to Pentagon City in Arlington (take the Red Line and Transfer to the Yellow line at Gallery Place) and then grab a taxi there to Falls Church. Congestion in the District is epic and even with the transfers the Metro will probably be a faster trip to Arlington. From there the cab ride should be pretty quick, because it is only a couple exits down on the freeway to Falls Church.

I agree on the cab. If you do take a cab from Union you have to find one to VA which can be tricky at rush hour.
As for the added cities on the supplemental cert(s), I got 13 and none were on the original cert(s). There may be those who got cities that were in the first group, but I did not. When the emails are complete and the new poll goes up you can compare and get a rough idea - there may be additional posters who didn't reply to the first poll initially, but it will give you some idea.
