I've heard from a very reliable source that January start date will be a class of 20 to 30. Would appear the article Sir found may indeed be additional hiring off the second set of certs. Just my speculation of course. That would mean that the first group should be close to full, and maybe there will be a reissue of emails and new candidates to interview (along with esteemed second certers such as yourself ). That would be great news, of course. Also, we keep getting emails about retiring judges sporadically. It's not 90 by any means, but folks are leaving places not listed on the certs.

Thank you Mamaru for my laugh of the day!!! Glad to lighten your day MPD, but I did not mean that as a joke. I think many people who had an acceptable interview, no social media faux pas (if that's the plural), and good references (credit and other) are going to be left standing when this is all over. Mamaru I didn't mean to make light of what you stated based upon your explanation of what you meant. I took your post to mean something entirely different when I read it. I originally thought you were making light of the comments by others. I apologize for taking it out of context for what you meant. I would never do anything to hurt you or anyone on this Board. I do agree with you that there indeed will be many good people still standing without an offer once all hiring is done. This has always been the case with SSA in its hiring practices. SSA hires who they want to meet their needs. It doesn't mean if you weren't hired by SSA, you were not a good candidate, all it means is that SSA was looking for someone or something else in its hiring than what you offered.

Hopeful - I'm not sure they're going to go much past the current group under consideration through that second class of 2015 - especially if it's 20 - heck, that's barely 90 total and they've gotten 2 full certificate lists from OPM. We know we have a group to interview in January - I don't think a "third" cert will hit until after 50 to 75 hires from this round. Just my $0.02.

I was thinking they may add some new cities to the mix, particularly with transfers occurring, retirements happening in January, etc. But I reserve the right to be totally wrong as always.

They could do that, but my money is on saving that for the third "full" cert, as they will have to interview another whole batch of people. It's possible they do a limited city add, with a quick turnaround to grab another 60 or 80, but that seems more trouble than it is worth.
Unless they don't like their current options (that means us)...

It seems to make sense hopefalj, especially since SSA still has to interview a few people. Why not add a few cities and a few more interviewees from a new cert? It allows SSA to see more candidates.

If you have been interviewed and do not receive an offer, do you get a call or e-mail telling you, "sorry, better luck next time"?

If you have been interviewed and do not receive an offer, do you get a call or e-mail telling you, "sorry, better luck next time"? No, you do not receive a phone call, email or letter from SSA, if not given an offer. You might be on another future cert, if you weren't three struck by the agency. You won't know that until a new cert comes out and the cert GAL locations include your GAL locations and yet you didn't receive a cert email. If that happens, you likely were three struck. If you receive another set of certs, it means you are back in the pool for hiring, but there will not be another interview for you. I hope that helps you.

MPD, we did get an email last time. It said, "I am sorry to advise that you were not selected for an Administrative Law Judge position with the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review."
However, Dudeabides (and co) got an offer after he received the email. The "leftovers" (as I call us) made the second cert after receiving such an email.
I think it came a week or two after the last offers (other than Dudeabides and Co.)

I forgot that SSA did send out a letter last time, but it was pretty evident by that time you didn't receive an offer from SSA, so the letter was of little value to you. Also, as you stated, it didn't stop you from receiving the second cert email. The fact you made the second cert tells us you were not three struck by SSA. As to the term of "leftovers", I much prefer to use the term "holdovers", which seems much more friendly rather than a epicurean term for food not eaten when first served. LOL!

I will expect to not expect an e-mail : )

I just felt that post was a little insulting to those of us who have not been, and those of us who ultimately will not be, selected. While SSA may not be able to be as picky as it has been in the past given the number of hires, the math tells us not everyone is going to end up in a black robe and to suggest that those who do not are on the fringe struck me as unkind. Only time will tell if it is accurate.

Even worse orchid, is every time the phone rings I expect it to be the "call" and when I look at the incoming number, it isn't a "703" area code and I feel dejected.
