Don't know if this should be in a new thread, but....I just got the magic call from Area Code 703! My interview is between January 21-23. Don't know how many may have been called before me, but there were 9 interview slots for me to choose from, so there are at least 8 more calls going out! Congrats to everyone else who gets the callI have moved your post to a new thread: "Second Round of the Second Cert." If this is titled correctly, please let me know what the title should be and I will change it. Pix.

The Second Cert thread is getting a bit unwieldily, so I have started a new thread. I will move Hondo 35's post to this thread. If this thread is not titled correctly, please let me know and I will change it. Pix.

BTW If there are any people getting added either because new cities get added or they refresh a city already hired for they should send out emails to folks soon with the paperwork attached. If you are the recipient of said emails please post or let Pixie, ALJD, or someone else know so that they can let people know to be on the look out. I don't expect it to add very many people but I do think it will add a few.

i would only suggest that the word in the title be the plural "certs."

Much to my surprise, I received a call for the interview today and am scheduled the week of Jan. 19. None of my cities are on the current "certs," and I have not received any paperwork re: references, etc. The interview scheduler suggested I call Bob, and Bob informed me not to worry. They pulled many certs, and did not notify everyone. He said the paperwork would be coming, but it would probably be next week before we see it. So for all of us third cert hopefuls, keep checking email and voicemail!

i would only suggest that the word in the title be the plural "certs." OK, I admit I am confused. Aren't we still on the second certificate, with the current interviews taken from that certificate? I guess my question is, why would the second certificate be plural? Maybe I am missing something, which would not be the first time! EDIT NOTE: Maybe I remember that OPM issued multiple certificates this time around? I am changing "certificate" to plural as you guys seem to know what you are talking about. EDIT NOTE 2: Sandifer and Gary explained below that separate certificates were issued for each location.

So for all of us third cert hopefuls, keep checking email and voicemail! This is great! This means that new cities (certs) are being added as they trudge along. If the cities added overlap with anyone else's GAL, we may be seeing additional emails to those of us already interviewed to re-rank cities like they did for some the last time. What makes all of this so confusing is that there is a different cert for each city. So it isn't technically a 1st cert, 2nd cert, 3rd cert etc. Instead it is more of a round of hiring, 1st hire, 2nd hire, etc. Just because they did not hire in a particular city with the last round, does not mean it is no longer in play. They are free to let certificates expire or keep them open until they hire for that city, however they want. Until we get reports of what cities are on this next group getting their interviews, we will not know which cities are in play. They will get their paperwork soon.... remember, the interview calls come at different times than the paperwork and the order in which it comes it of no consequence whatsoever.

EDIT NOTE: Maybe I remember that OPM issued multiple certificates this time around? We have a new process this year in which several "certs" are issued, one for each city. However, they are issued in a group, at the same time, in one email asking us to rank the cities. Thus, we applicants colloquially refer to this as "a" "cert". Thus, I think both references are acceptable. Just don't ask me to explain a "refresh" or a "supplemental cert".

So there was a cert for Orland Park, a cert for Valparaiso, a cert for Dayton, etc. So there is not a second cert, but many certs in the second round of certs. EDIT NOTE BY PIXIE: Got it--thanks. Different procedure than in the past and I wasn't paying close enough attention. Pix.

I guess "technically" this process is now starting on the 3rd hiring / class off the new register. There have been many many certs since this all started. But we are and have been referring to all of this as it was in the past, one "cert." What is most probable is that many of the cities that did not receive a hire on this last round of certs are still in play and will be cities considered for this next round of hires. Was that confusing or what? LOL! Whatever we call it, we all know what we mean. I think.

Now I want chocolate... Also, I would not be surprised if some offers came out before the interviews in the third week of January, much like what happened with dudeabides back in September/October.

I'd like to call it 3 classes down (2 from 1st group of certs; 1 from 2nd group of certs), 4th class upcoming... I think "hiring classes" may be the best way to categorize them going forward.

There were five interview panels last time and four interviews times a day. It seems that would equal up to 20 interview a day times 3 days or a total of 60 interviews maximum this time. Hence, there will likely be 60 or less interviews this time, so if there are new certs it won't be many new candidates added as at least 20 of 60 were people who didn't get to interview last time. Look for a fast turnaround post-interview for offers to come out, if some don't come out even prior to that time.
