I just finished my last day at work before the big adventure that lies ahead for approximately 45 of us. I just left a position I have had longer than any other in my working career. It is an exciting and nerve wracking time, especially for those of us who are new to disability law and SSA.
Golf tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend. Full speed ahead on Monday. Good luck to all who start on Monday and to those who await "the call"

Looking forward to Monday as well. I am in a hotel for only a short time as I was able to find a rental that would take all 3 of my mutts. I kind of used a Jedi mind trick with them though... I showed them a photo of all of them in Halloween costumes as I then said "and these are my 3 lovely dogs as you can see they are spoiled." It worked! The collective AWE was all I needed to close out the Jedi mind trick. lease signed... Moving in July 1st. LOL! Hope everyone has a great experience! Good luck to those waiting the call!

That's terrific Cubbie. And you are a very devious person, Sratty. I hope the job is as good as you both are anticipating it will be.

I'm checking in from just outside Denver. I wrapped up my practice of 30+ years as best as I could in 3 weeks, packed light and hit the road yesterday in New England. I'll be in California by lunch tomorrow. I have rented a place walking distance to work I'll relax this weekend and hit the ground running Monday. Good luck to all starting Monday.
And I believe many more of you will join the ranks in the near future. Stay positive!

My attempt to be ready by the the 29th has been challenging. As an outsider on my own nickel it is expensive to move from the south to Colorado. Hopefully, the house will be on the market next week while the family stays for here for another week before coming out to my cheap extended stay hotel. With school starting on Aug. 17th there isn't much time to find a place to live. Because I manage a two city office I had no time to visit before my report date. I'm catching the last flight out Sunday night and pray it makes it to Denver. Logistics aside I am excited to head west.

So happy to have all you folks joining the Corps. This is gonna be an exceptional class.
Remember, there are those that went before you that are more than happy to help with anything you need. All of the ALJs that welcomed me on board gave great advice, answered tons of questions, passed along great materials and just generally showed amazing willingness to help a newbie get acclimated. I feel compelled and honored to keep up that tradition, as I know many more here do as well. Drop a PM anytime if i can help.

Be sure to read up on credit time - I learned the hard way and ended up donating time, unwittingly. Credit time can be a big help in trying to juggle the transition, especially if you don't have any leave accrued. Also, some HOCALJs are good about giving newbies some time to figure out personal issues as you transition into the new job.

Thanks Funky, appreciate the compliment! Well, well, well...Radoy's back! Where ya been? Hangin' with DLOTS? The truth is I never left you . All through my wild days , My mad existence , I kept my promise , Don't keep your distance . Actually, I found out yesterday a good litigator friend is taking a government job in Fresno, but couldn't say more about it yet. So I logged on to see if anyone just announced an offer in Fresno . . . but alas, no.

The really strange thing (unless you are a conspiracy theorist) is that after logging on and giving Funky a poke for old times' sake, later that night I got an email from USAJOBS saying that my "application status has been updated," and Application Manager changed the date of my "External Assessment" "completed" date to 6/26/2015 (even though I completed it more than two years ago and went on to DC, NOR, abyss of waiting, moving on in life, forgetting, etc etc)

I thought Immigration recently hired AJs for Fresno, perhaps that is where your buddy is going.

Hmmm, makes me think there's been a ripple in the force and I should log on to USA jobs and check my status. Of course, I am stuck in a car with little to no connectivity...
