I would add, the same notices appear in Application Manager through a link from our applications on USAJOBS.

Prepping for the test - first you have to ask yourself - How OCD am I?
If the answer is 75% or more - do whatever you need to do to NOT be crazy on the days of testing.
If the answer is 74% or less - don't let the 75% or more people make you crazy.
It IS a serious, challenging test. If you have a law degree and have passed the bar, you've done serious tests before and passed. You've got this.

Also - don't forget this is an OPM test for eligibility to be an ALJ in any agency. As Lizdarcy said - skills and aptitudes. You are not expected to know the statutes, regs, advisories, decisions, orders, or folklore of every federal agency that uses ALJ's!

I feel a little better from all the responses to my agony over the Bar. Just wondering how soon the SI is after the WD/logic tests. How long should you plan to stay in DC?

I think the timing may have been different before 2013. Also, there may have been a few in 2013 who needed to have the SI rescheduled but kept the WD/LBMT date. However, the scheduling in 2013 (absent oddball circumstances) had the SI the following day, and those in 2015 who have received test dates also are scheduled for the SI the following day.

Oddballs like me who need disability accommodations have a slightly different schedule but generally take the SI with everyone else. My testing took two days but was scheduled differently.

Oh no! I wasn't offended at all. I cheerfully admit I am an oddball, with or without an accommodation. ?

The question marks in the previous post were the result of fat fingers. EDIT NOTE BY PIXIE: There is an Edit function on the upper right hand side of your message. You can take out the , or make any changes you like. You could also make the changes and delete the subsequent message (the one I am editing), so it doesn't just hang out without an antecedent. Pix.

So I take it regardless how you do on the tests, everyone goes for the SI? Worry, although I have yet to test, I'm quite sure the answer to this is yes. I've made reservations for two nights!

This question may have already been asked and I apologize if it's repetitive, but I'm a bit skeptical of my email. It's the same one as the rest have posted. I just worry because of the data breach at OPM announced this past June that we may be getting targeted. Has anyone confirmed that (for realsies) this is a genuine message from OPM? I'm going to call today, but was wondering if anyone had thoughts on this. Thanks! Its legit. Don't get me quoting Stephen Stills now...

Since the post that it is harder than the Bar made me Sick all night, without asking for anyone to divulge particulars, does studying for the Bar help? So this brings up a point that I have wanted to make for a while. This is testing to become an ALJ. Not an ODAR ALJ, but an ALJ--capable of handling federal bench trials that could last months, with scores of attorneys and many motions. The "prejudice" that I see time and again from ODAR folks on this Board is: "Gosh I write for this moron ALJ and I KNOW I could do a better job than him/her." Well, you know what? You're right. But you miss the point and if you carry that prejudice and allow it consciously or sub-consciously to affect what and how you do the testing up to the moment of getting your NOR it will impact your chances. Fact is, a whole lotta folks never get this--trust me, I know. Yes, I understand that 90, maybe 95% of you will be hired by ODAR. But you have to get past OPM first. And therein lies the rub. As to preparation, my remarks above apply. OPM is choosing you for your skills as a potential Judge (I don't mean to be so obvious and pedantic, apologies)...and being the best lawyer in your future court-room is the aspiration. You either have it now or you don't. Hang loose and trust in your self. Break a leg.

So to summarize, if I am reading the emails correctly ...
The WD & LBT is somewhat akin to the experience of temporary duty in an Eastern European brothel and having the John (or Jane, for equality purposes) ask for a recitation of various executive branch federal folklore, 90-95% of which being SSA specific. So as I apply cologne purchased for two bits from the turney thing at the flying j's restroom and bone up on The Beuwolf of ODAR (Once it was known as 'OHA' as in 'we have to render how many cases a year? OHA.'"), I should also: throw up, study, don't study, go OCD, don't go OCD, and don't throw up. Did is miss anything? Is there anything else anyone who has taken the test is willing to disclose that would not violate your nondisclosure agreement?
'Cause I'm all ears! :-)
(Since reading begets misunderstand when it comes to comedy, please understand: A. This was meant all in fun, B. Any/all advice / general suggestions is welcome)

I agree! And I highly recommend going back to review some of Funky's historical/hysterical contributions. Although some of the fun/humor may be lost to history, cuz sometimes you just had to be there at the time to catch the spirit. But, believe it or not, I remember when he first joined (at least I think)and Funky has always been a strong board/community supporter, full of sage advice (usually ) and with a quick wit to boot! Indeed, he was the first to greet me after my extended absence. Of course, there is a lot of wisdom and valuable insight to be gotten, not to mention the humor and camaraderie, which an exploration of the many threads here will reveal. Enjoy!! ******************** Edit: Ok, this seems out of context. This was a response to Gaiden's comment yesterday morning. I thought my reply would include his comment, but I goofed somehow. But there you go, context!
