With all the advice concerning the meat locker temperature for the WD & LBMT I wore layers. Truth told, I was so focused on what I was doing, the temperature didn't bother me. The damn seat did. It was hard, unforgiving and bad for my back.

Got my SI interview notice late this afternoon. Sure enough, it's the next day, September 1. 10:05 a.m.
Thanks for the advice on test-day attire. Like Gaidin, I'm rarely cold, but just in case I'll probably wear something layered so I can shed if necessary.
Do I understand correctly there is one Marriott across from OPM and another Marriott very near the interview site, Embassy Suites, both of which are more reasonably priced than other options? I went ahead and reserved a room for two nights at the State Plaza but am cheap enough to be interested in whether I could do better and still be in the same neighborhood.

I think it's tough to beat a prepaid State Plaza rate. I stayed there both nights, but my interview was the early afternoon slot so I wasn't concerned about time.

Perhaps the number of successful appeals and 10 pointers was large enough that they no longer need to lower the score. Just speculating why no one else seems to have heard about testing on August 31. Not a chance.

Funky of course is a special case. I thought so too. But you should have seen the test proctor's reaction when I told him I needed to be in the special class.

Keep in mind that the rates at these properties can vary considerably night to night, week to week, year to year. My room was more reasonable than the Embassy across the street for the nights I booked it - I don't know if it's more reasonable as a general rule. I'm not sure you can generalize.

I'm a round 2 rejectee and just got notice I am moving on. Email came on at 4:05 pm. Did you appeal from the 2013 decision? Yes I did Gary. Here's the text of the email I got: Appeal Status: IMSJ Ineligible Rating Cancelled This message is in regard to the status of your appeal for the IMSJ ineligible rating you received for the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) examination, Job Opportunity Announcement, ALJ2013-847661. The IMSJ ineligible rating, as reflected in your ALJ Notice of Results, indicated that your score on the Online Component assessment (i.e., Situation Judgment Test, Writing Sample, and Experience Assessment) did not place you among the higher scored sub-group of eligible applicants. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has decided to permit a larger group of the preliminarily qualified candidates from the first administration of the current examination to move forward to the Proctored and In-Person Components [(i.e., Written Demonstration (WD) and Logic-Based Measurement Test (LBMT), and the Structured Interview (SI)], of the ALJ examination. Based on its review, OPM has determined that your Online Component score is within the range permitted to move forward to the Proctored and In-Person Components. Accordingly, your ineligible rating of IMSJ has been cancelled. In addition, you are being provided with the opportunity to proceed and participate in the next stages of the ALJ examination listed above. In affording you this opportunity, regardless of whether or not you choose to accept it, OPM has revised your rating to 1C20Eligible.1D20 Therefore, the appeal that you filed in response to the IMSJ rating that you received on March 13, 2014 also is cancelled. You will be sent further details via email in late Summer 2015 regarding the self-scheduling procedures for the WD, LBMT and SI. The notification will be sent from ALJscheduling_support@panpowered.com. If you wish to update your email address, please send your new email address to aljapplication@opm.gov by August 21, 2015. This will ensure timely processing of your new email address prior to the mailing of the scheduling procedures notice. Once processed, the new email address will be used by OPM as your new email address of record, to send subsequent notifications regarding the status of your ALJ application for ALJ JOA number ALJ2013-847661. For change requests received after August 21, 2015, OPM cannot not guarantee that the self-scheduling procedures notice will be sent to your new email address. OPM is not responsible for an applicant's non-receipt of official notifications due to outdated or inaccurate contact information concerning the applicant (i.e., email address), spam blockers or other email filters. A notice also will be posted on OPM1920s ALJ website at www.opm.gov/services-for-agencies/administrative-law-judges/. OPM will also provide information and notices regarding the ALJ examination to interested parties, as appropriate. As such information becomes available it will be posted on the OPM ALJ website at www.opm.gov/services-for-agencies/administrative-law-judges/. To ensure fairness and consistency among applicants in this group, OPM will not provide further specifics in advance in response to individual inquiries on this matter. General information regarding the Proctored and In-person component are described in the ALJ JOA in the 1C20HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED, Basis for Rating1D20 section. Sincerely, Administrative Law Judge Program Office PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL MESSAGE. IT IS AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED. For additional information, please refer to the vacancy announcement for this position.

I just got the same email, also at 4:05. To help with the prognosticating, I'm an outsider (though I'm a state ALJ and have done a lot of SSA work though Legal Services), I was rejected after the online component, and I did appeal. The notice says my appeal is cancelled, and will be receiving further information as to when I will be invited for the WD, LBMT, and SI.

I just too received the notice that I am moving on to Round 3 (WD/SI). Got the same message (my ineligible rating was cancelled). I am really excited. Sad for those who weren't given the opportunity to move on. I am really grateful for this board and all of the information we have continued to share. Would be interested in hearing of any "tips" to prepare for the WD/SI. I know that we cannot discuss substance---just looking for encouragement more than anything.

I just received my OPM e-mail which states that my score was not sufficient to go to round 3 during their first cut, but that now I will be invited in late summer to do the written demo, logic based measurement test and structured interview. My notice states:
[your score] is not within the range of the highest scored sub-group of all the eligible applicants [other score]. OPM has decided to permit a larger group of the preliminarily qualified candidates from the first administration of the current examination to move forward to the proctored and in-person components (i.e. written demonstration (WD) and logic-based measurement test (LBMT) and the structure interview (SI) of the ALJ examination. Based on its review, OPM has determined that your Online Component score is within the range permitted to move forward to the Proctored and In-Person Components. Accordingly, your ineligibility rating of [score] has been cancelled. In addition, you are being provided with the opportunity to proceed and participate in the next stages of the ALJ examination listed above.
While poorly written, the gist is that many/some/few of us (?) have been invited to move to the next round. I didn't read the comments below to know if someone has already posted this language. Forgive the duplication if so.

So here is a new wrinkle. Appears OPM scored the most recent online tests using both the old and new standard, based upon the e-mail I received today. It also discusses "self-scheduling" the DC portion. I am pasting the body of the email for the board's review and comment. Certainly didn't expect this. You are being sent this notice because you completed the Online Component (i.e., Situational Judgment Test (SJT, Writing Sample (WS) and Experience Assessment (EA)) of the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) examination in July 2015. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has decided to permit a larger group of applicants from the recent Online Component to move forward to the Proctored and In-Person Components (i.e., Written Demonstration (WD) and Logic-Based Measurement Test (LBMT), and the Structured Interview (SI)), of the ALJ examination. Based on its review, OPM has determined that your Online Component score is within the range permitted to move forward to the Proctored and In-Person Components.
