I too am taking my best guess. I thought there was somebody who won an appeal late summer who got an interview without new certs. There is every chance my memory is faulty, but that is what I'm going on. Could be, but for all the coverage we have here, we can still miss stuff. There could have been a "new" cert for a few "old" cities for which the successful appellant was the only one we know of who hadn't already interviewed. Guess we will wait and see. There's always new mysteries to contemplate in this process.

Some time ago, there was discussion about the fact that for us old-timers (those receiving their NOR in March 2014), our "eligibility" on the register expires on December 20, 2015, which is coming up soon. At the time, the thinking was that the register would be extended. I'm wondering if anyone has any further thoughts on that, since I haven't heard any reassuring words from OPM saying, don't worry about that looming deadline, we're going to extend the register. Just doing my job of worrying over the weekend.

Why would OPM give us all the opportunity to modify our GALs in a survey with a 1/6/2016 due date if our eligibility on the register was going to expire 12/20/2015?

How's this: It would be pointless to allow the GAL expansion if the register expired at the end of the month. Darn you, you got to it first!

Those who received their NOR's recently have reported that their eligibility expires on 11/30/18.

Good luck to those of you interviewing this week. Once you walk out of that interview you will have done all you can do in this process.

Are you back in the game? The last I recall you had decided ALJ was not for you.... If you didn't turn back your materials in response to the cert email, the call may have been a follow-up from ODAR to see if you had intended to forego the opportunity. If you did, then it likely was for an interview. Not interested in SSA at this time, but still active on the register. And I've gotten two emails this week, one asking me to revise my GAL and reaffirm interest in ALJ, and another telling me the current register is extended to Dec. 2018.

If you aren't interested in ALJ for the foreseeable future (at least until the next refresh) you should take the cities that only have ODAR ALJ positions off your GAL. Then SSA won't get your name on certificates for those cities.

They have been trying to get a major expansion of their ALJ Corp done including a number of new hearing sites. No one seems to know how many or where (or at this point if) but they could and probably will overlap ODAR cities. I know Cleveland, KC, and Miami already do. I think they have a couple in California as well, but I don't know if those overlap or not.
