So, I just noticed that the board is fast approaching its 9th Birthday. 8 years, 11 months and 7 days old.
I have been a member since March of 2013, so only slightly more than a third of the boards existence.
And what a way to celebrate. Members on the register have been finally getting the call. Including our beloved and longsuffering Gaidin. And, at the same time the newest crop of dreamers are getting their notices that they made it past the phase 1 tar pit and can keep on dreaming.
In all my time on the board, I don't ever remember a day with as much excitement for so many different members at differing stages in the game.
Pixie, ALJD, you folks created something here that is truly phenomenal. Despite the fact that this message board is dedicated to a competitive process, between a bunch of lawyers nonetheless, it has not just remained civil and helpful, but has become a place where I have made real friends and allows me (while no longer in the game) to revel in and share the successes of those friends.
Thanks for all you have done and all you do everyday to keep this community what it is.

I agree with Funky. I started (reading) a little earlier on the old board and remember how infected it was, but Pixie and ALJD has really helped keep this board a community. I gained good information when it was my time and I'm glad to see it can be helpful to others. Quite a bit of love going on here the past few days. I thank you for this as well.

Amen, Judge Funky! Lots of great advice without unfair advantage. Thank you all founders and wise friends!

I joined the Board in 2007 and got into a squabble in 2009 and started all over again. Funky is point person for what I deem the "new" Board as the old one (as Pixie noted a while back) had some characters that made Tigerlaw look like gary. No, I mean it. It was fractious and deeply passionate as the 11 year Azdell lid had produced a lot of angst. ALD and Pixie kept the fence strong and high and scolded and enforced. And look where we are now.
Thanks, Judges for hanging in there. And doing such a good job.

Well said, everyone. I'll just say I agree and add my "thank you." Love this board, and hope someday I can meet some of you good people in the flesh.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Looking back, I will say it has been a long but mostly enjoyable haul. I also will say that this latest clutter of cats is the most difficult I have had to herd. Not aggressively argumentative as PA mentions, but just not thinking before they post, not reading prior posts before they post, and posting whatever in whichever thread, irrespective of whether it has any bearing on the thread topic. Surely they will figure it out in the next few weeks? If not, I won't have any fingers left. They give me a newfound appreciation for the experienced members of the board. Pixie.

I'm so thankful for this board! I never would have made it past the first round if I hadn't read the tips here (and then went back to amend my application to include the proper info). Great day for the board indeed!

Completely ditto Gaidin. I would have given up, taken it personally, despaired, and just plain goofed up at each and any of the stages without the Board. Thanks for the info and advice, thanks even more for the humor, musical education, and friendships.
Pixie and ALJD, I have no idea how you do all that you do, but I am so glad that you do. The kindness and generosity of the Board as a whole is surely a reflection of you two. Especial thanks to you!

Amen brother! You said it all. I think the tenor of the whole Board changed when the class of 2013 got rolling on the Board. It did not have the same collegiality prior to that time. We brought out the idea that we should be pulling for everyone trying for a position and not just ourselves. ALJD and PIXIE made the Board worthwhile and do a great job of policing the members. They are both owed a great debt of gratitude for all they do and continue to do for the Board. As the torch continues to get passed to a newer crop of members, let's hope they can continue to carry it proud. I am sure a lot of us "old-timers" (I came in March 2010, but didn't apply for OPM testing until March 2013) will continue to be around to offer advice and wisdom along the way. Yet, we need new members to step up and add content and flavor to the Board. Don't just be sitting on the sideline, but offer your two cents worth whenever you can to try to help others. Now, let's keep this Board useful, active and fun. Also, let's keep those offers rolling in. Good luck to all and I (as well as ALJ's: Funkyodar, JudgeRatty, Luckylady2 and Gaidin) will still be around to make comment as time goes on.

What a day, indeed! First, I will say that I am so thankful for this board and the kind, knowledgeable folks who share useful info, who just vent, and who listen to the venting, etc.
What goes around comes around for some of us. Glad to be back in the running, but this is a marathon and not a sprint.
Best of luck to all in the 2016 application pool and to those moving along toward the goal atother stages.

Whether that change was entirely for the good is debatable. And, there was PLENTY of mutual support for one another back in the 2010-2012 days. I have the PMs, and could research the threads, to prove it. But, that horse has long since left the barn. What is indisputable is what ALJD and Pixie have done for all of us for years. Thanks, you two, again, and always.

I'll echo what everyone else posted.
I did not discover the Board until right before Round III, but once I did I was hooked. I read all the past posts and lurked for months before daring to post myself. As the months dragged [into years], the Board became the outlet through which I could express my frustration and blow off steam. No one else understood like my fellow applicants. But I still could not believe that everyone was so supportive of ... their competitors for limited jobs.
And yet, here I am, a "yearling" ALJ, and still haunting the Board because it's Offer Time. It is truly a credit to the remarkable people ALJD and Pixie are that this Board has such an atmosphere of support and mutual admiration.
However, I do miss the flamewars and the Tiger-Funky dust-ups. With all due respect, a little pumpkin mischief just doesn't satisfy the horrified rubbernecked spectator in me.

Man who remembers ALJFAQ? That guy was the best troll. Or maybe it DLOTS? Actually, ALJFAQ gave us Crapland which has been an essential tool on the Board ever since. He is also to be honest with you the one who got me interested in data mining stuff on the Board which led to polling. This community exists because of the work that ALJD and Pixie have put in. It functions as a living organism based upon the people who show up every day and contribute. I got my hand slapped a number of times as a Newb. Either because I posted something that was poorly developed or need research or in one or two instances because I posted something stupid.

AnotherFed, I have a lot of respect for you, but I have to disagree with the above statement. I don't miss them at all. This current group of Newbs has run me ragged. You were never that way. As to the Pumpkin mischief, it is all in good fun. There isn't a mean bone in her body. Plenty of funniness though. Next time I in her area, I am going to look her up. People like you guys make me wish I was still an instructor at the baby judge school so I could meet all of you as you come through. Pix.
