The food trucks right down the street from OPM are fast, good, and cheap. I had left OPM and got myself some Chicken Curry and dal for lunch! I had plenty of time.

Interviews are taking place at the Embassy Suites in Old Town, Alexandria. Not exactly walking distance from OPM. But it seems that most folks have planned enough ahead to factor in traffic, etc.

Last time I think interviews were at the Embassy Suites in Georgetown, 1250 22nd street, so now they are moved to Embassy Suites in Old Town?

Yes, Alexandria up near the tracks off King Street and across from the Masonic grand tower. Parking in the garage - worked perfectly for me; others had some problems. Parking is not cheap but super convenient with elevator to lobby and directory channeling you to the small conference rooms on an upper floor. To me, the area around the Embassy was a little bit like a rabbit warren. A little recon is recommended.

Thanks, so the Embassy Suites Georgetown is a distance from OPM and the SI, where are people staying, is there a "happy medium"?

I parked on the street maybe 3 blocks away on King Street, because I had plenty of time and there were a ton of spaces. I think it cost me $5 and change for 3 hours' worth of parking.

Thanks, so the Embassy Suites Georgetown is a distance from OPM and the SI, where are people staying, is there a "happy medium"? Benny There are three threads on the first page, including this one, that discuss lodging in detail. It would be worth your time to read through those. Bottom line, there is no convenient happy medium. Due to the SI location and the WD/LBMT being on different sides of the river, you can't walk between them. Everybody is adopting a different approach; some are changing hotels between the two, some are staying near OPM and driving to the SI, some are using Uber/Metro and so forth. All plans seem to be going well, so pick your poison.

If "Happy" is a pseudonym for "I can't afford a third mortgage to stay for one night!" then, perhaps. Check the Marriott Courtyard on Eisenhower or the very nearby Holiday Inn (Express?) - and there are a ton of places in Crystal City.
There are a million posts on this topic. Places up and down I-95.

Yes, this has been discussed extensively. A simple visual search of the first page would have come up with this thread that is about DC hotels, suggestions and deals: aljdiscussion.proboards.com/thread/2228/dc-hotels-suggestions-deals-etc

I switched hotels and it worked well. There are several hotels near the Embassy Suites. I found a good deal at the Hilton Garden right around the corner from the Embassy Suites. Very quiet, no complaints. Also close to the airport. Good luck!

I tested/interviewed last week and stayed at the Hotel Lombardy at 2019 Pennsylvania Ave NW. It's 7 very walkable blocks from OPM, historic, and has a quite nice lounge. It was a 20-minute taxi ride from there at 11:30am for my 1pm SI at Embassy Suites in Alexandria.

At the SI they have a waiting room where you cool your heels waiting to be ushered to the interview room. I can't imagine a problem leaving your luggage in the waiting room, or for that matter outside the interview room.

You don't need to be staying there for them to stash your luggage for you. Or, I should say, I didn't, when it was at the Embassy Suites in Georgetown. Smile big, and say please and thank you. Tip well.

Agreed that the food at the SI hotel is very decent. At the reception desk, they couldn't get the machine to work to charge me for breakfast (free for overnight guests, very reasonable for walk-ins), so they gave me a voucher for a free one. On the way by, I passed a guy who was waxing eloquent to a rapt audience about everything that was on the test the day before. Come on, people - that paper you signed means you can't talk about Fight Club. Or listen to someone who insists on doing so.
