That President Jackson fought in excess of 100 duels, the vast majority of which were to defend his wife's honor.
Apparently, he married Rachel Donelson, both thinking that her divorce from her prior husband had been completed but it had not been. The divorce was complicated by the changing of governments as Kentucky became a state instead of a territory of Virginia and the control of Tennessee was turned over to the Federal Government by North Carolina. The locals understood the situation and thought nothing of it.
About 5 years later, the divorce was finalized based on the prior husband's allegations of adultery by Rachel with Andrew Jackson. They were then remarried in a private ceremony. Since they lived as a married couple in the meantime, she was often accused of being an adulteress and bigamist by political opponents. Rachel Jackson died shortly before President Jackson departed for Washington after being elected president. She was buried in the gown and shoes she had purchased for the inaugural ball. Her niece, Emily Donelson, served as the de facto First Lady.

That President Jackson, prior to his death in 1845 was really angry about he saw what was happening with regard to the American Civil War in 1861. He said, "There's no reason for this."

That all blues and blues rock harmonica players, when playing in the key of G, use a harmonica (diatonic) tuned to the key of C and not in the key of G. If they played a G harmonica, they would play naturally in the key of D. Confused? Now try conceptualizing a chromatic harmonica tuned to the key of C that is played naturally in the key of D minor. Actually, this is probably technical enough that it belongs in the music thread. I hate to make poor bayou's head swim with arcane music knowledge. Pixie.

Good thing President Jackson spoke up with his prognosticatory prowess regarding the Civil War that occurred after his death, because no one has ever asked "why?" until now - except for all those books, movies, scholarly research articles, college classes devoted to the topic, and so on.

If Jackson would have prevented the War of Northern Aggression, just think how he could have prevented WW II.

Did you know that right now, both Andrew Jackson and Frederick Douglas are working on a solution to the 2021 Great War that occurred when the evil Hawaiian Islands challenged America and its honorable friend North Korea?

A REALLY good reason for both ODAR and OMHA to go forward with current hiring actions, including the issuing of new certs, in the very near future.

The swivel chair was invented by President Jefferson and is purportedly the chair he sat in while drafting the Declaration of Independence.

that in the Battle of Bunker Hill, a majority of the combat took place on an adjacent hill named Breed's Hill? And the monument for the Battle of Bunker Hill is actually located on Breed's Hill. The Battle of Breed's Hill just doesn't sound as good, I guess.
