I am thankful for the U.S. Mint. What an exciting Thursday, November 5, 2020. They know how to run it, and make COVID go away at least from our thoughts.
I am also thankful for this board. I joined in 2013 at the suggestion of my supervising ALJ. He was correct there is a lot of information on this board. Information that is not always available even for an insider. The exchange of information is pretty valuable. Board members have so many different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Where else would you learn about immigration law, constitutional law, APA, and executive orders without paying tuition.
I am thankful for Pixie's help with the English language, knowing that otherwise OMGs and LOLs might proliferate. Her knowledge is vast. Thanks for sharing it, Pixie and thanks for sharing your musical knowledge. For me, the humorous and witty exchanges are most valuable. How pleasant to know y'all. See you at the fais do-do.

Thanks for sharing it, Pixie and thanks for sharing your musical knowledge. For an easy lesson in the I IV V chord progression, and especially for an easy lesson in how to recognize the turn arounds, Go to the tunes thread and listen to the song in the last post thereâLittle Walter's Juke. This makes it easy for non musicians to hear the progression and the turn arounds. aljdiscussion.proboards.com/thread/4883/tunes-waiting?page=7

I am grateful for the HR person who advised me during orientation (some twenty-odd years ago) to always contribute to my TSP. He said, âyou may go through some tough times, but no matter what, always contribute at least the agency matching.â
Now that I am old and gray, I realize how fortunate I was to have been on the receiving end of that advice. I will not be retiring a gazillionaire (itâs not like he told me to buy Apple stock), but I will be able to retire when I desire. It will be a simple but secure life. I wonât be interviewed by Robin Leach, but I probably wonât fret about paying the electric bill.
On the other hand, if prescription drug costs continue on their current trajectory, I may have to get a retirement job at Culverâs. đđđŠ

Thatâs a very safe bet. Robin Leach...is dead. He wonât be interviewing me, either.
Be well. Respectfully, Hamster

Mint employees were unable to do their jobs for quite a while. What a brilliant idea--1,945 gold coins to remind us of the end of another difficult time in history. No, I did not get one, but good for them. I hope they made tons of profit from it, and do it again.

I completely missed the news about The Mint. Nevertheless, I can still be grateful for the little things that make life more convenient. Today, I am thankful for the gizmo in the refrigerator door that dispenses crushed ice and cold filtered water at the push of a button.

Sometimes though you just want a little ice to go in the situational bourbon or even the water.

Today I am very thankful that I can see well again, as I've now had both my cataract surgeries. Colors pop, things are in focus again (despite having had astigmatism), and I may not need glasses any more. Will see if I have to get glasses for extended close reading to avoid eye strain in about a month - but so far so good!
Don't mind admitting I have an eye phobia and was scared out of my mind before the first eye was done - I don't even like the idea of eye drops. However, the worst thing that happened during the procedure was the stinging insertion of the IV needle into the back of my hand while they were prepping me for surgery. If you are likewise afraid of eye surgery and have been delaying the inevitable (cataracts only get worse over time), my advice is to not take counsel of those fears.

Today I am thankful for the nuns who who were my elementary school teachers. Those women all had masterâs degrees; some had doctoral degrees. They taught for a pittance of a monthly âallowanceâ to buy extravagant things like shoes and Kleenex.
Some were tough and some were gentle, but all were excellent teachers. I wish I had understood as a child how much these women sacrificed to instruct their âpupils,â so that I could have thanked them in person.

I wasted two hours trying to get the silver coin from the US Mint on that day - was kicked off the site repeatedly, banned, accused of being a bot and other indignities, even after being a loyal customer and the daughter of a WWII vet who was a customer for over 50 years before his death in 2017.
now to get one, go on eBay and pay a minimum of $700 for the $72 coin. I am not thankful - I am incandescent!

Today I am not as thankful as I was, since I lost more to COVID...
I am thankful to have the chance to know my pets. They are truly a bright spot in my family's life.

Today I am thankful for florists. The ability to have brightly colored fresh flowers year-round is a gift. I know a florist who rose to the occasion, too. With all that flowery phraseology, you had to be a liberal arts rather than a STEM major. It is a thorny issue, though, singling out particular fields to thank. While I am appreciative of and root for many professions, florists are a perennial favorite that many pickâas did you, but your praise leaves many callings unrecognized. Perhaps you have planted the seed for our other friends on this boardâmany of whom have fertile imaginations or a budding creativity which may spring into action and blossom into a chorus of thankfulness. Respectfully, Hamster
