I cannot imagine how those small hearing rooms could ever be modified to the point where everyone in the room would not be breathing the same air within seconds of exhalation, sneezing, coughing, singing, etc. I have yet to have anyone sing during a hearing. That might be a nice addition though. Depends on whether they can carry a tune.

I understand the privacy concerns and I have heard concerns for a long time regarding whether video hearings offered appropriate due process, but is there something particularly egregious with regards to video hearings from home and due process? No, I do not perceive anything "particularly egregious" about the process WRT video hrgs from home, other than my doubt as to whether it can be accomplished satisfactorily. My impression is that the "process" we afford via hrgs from home has been at least slightly eroded compared to the process we afforded before. Pre and POST workup and development and scheduling have been even more spotty than pre-Covid. My experience may be the exception, but I have not been overly impressed with the quality of the audio during phone hrgs from home - both during the hrgs, and when I have gone back to listen to recordings. I am not expert in computer matters, and am not confident that my home internet connection is as robust as the HO's - especially when multiple family members are simultaneously conducting audio/video proceedings for work and school. I am not comfortable with the idea that I will be expected to maintain and troubleshoot my home network sufficiently for video hrgs. My personal opinion - which no one else may share - is that holding hrgs from the HO would be one (admittedly minor) way to enhance the quality of the process we provide. It also would improve the quality of my work/home life. Conducting hrgs from my home is an imposition upon my entire family - as well as a potential privacy concern for the claimants. And I personally believe that at least some level of phone/video hrgs could be conducted from the HOs w/ negligible - if any - health risk.

I agree that holding hearings from HO is an improvement. I also agree that there are privacy concerns and sanity concerns that favor HO hearings, even if the hearings are video. I am not a techie and I resent being forced to deal with technical matters that I am not qualified to do. I may or may not be a minority in this but being forced to work from home with management not even remotely planning for a return is flat out wrong.
