Most of us probably jovially greeted our security officers on our way into the office in the morning, back when we were still going into the office, and were grateful when they dealt with the irate, the confused, and the troubled who came for their hearings. The article does not mention the name of the security officer, only identifying him as “I.W.,” but I wish I could write him a thank you note. Thank God for him and his ability to remain calm under immense pressure. Lives were no doubt saved because of his actions. Thank God he was wearing his ballistic vest. www.wavy.com/news/local-news/norfolk/fbi-man-charged-in-shooting-at-social-security-building-brought-600-rounds-of-ammo-sandwiches-beer/

Thank you I. W. for your service.
He is probably a retired police officer who never had to use his weapon in over 20 years on the job. Pixie

Thank you I. W. for your service. He is probably a retired police officer who never had to use his weapon in over 20 years on the job. Pixie Isn’t he from NYC? If so, he may very well have seen some previous gun action? I thought article indicated he’s originally from nyc.

Out of 35k officers on the force. The majority of NYPD officers retire without ever firing their weapon. www1.nyc.gov/site/nypd/stats/reports-analysis/firearms-discharge.page

Our FPS guards have to qualify at the firearm range at least once a year.

I thought Antifa were the anarchists and the boogaloos were referred to as “patriots” if you murder someone, i call them defendant in public until criminal case is over. and in my mind, I'm calling this defendant a murderer based on facts i know about so he would not want me on his jury. i could care less about someone's politics when a crime is committed. I’m more concerned about the crime especially if it’s a violent crime. interestingly, as long as crimes are not involved, i have friends as i like to currently say with Antifa sympathies and i have friends on the right. I'm not aware of any specifically in the Boogaloo movement though. and some folks who lean right and very far right can fall in the anarchist category depending on their overall thoughts of government.

What on earth is wrong with you, @valaraukar ? A man who defended us is dead. Murdered. You are worried about whether his killer was right wing or left wing? Well, "The more you know," indeed. How about looking at expert testimony from a congressional hearing?
Assessing the Threat From Accelerationists and Militia Extremists (Congressional hearing). Oral testimony by J. J. MacNab. United States House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism. July 16, 2020. Event occurs at 58:22. Archived from the original on July 30, 2020. Retrieved July 31, 2020.... There are also "a few apparent anarchists", including some self-identified "anarchists".[3][42][43] Pitcavage described the "anarchists" who have adopted "'boogaloo' rhetoric" as generally being right-wing anarcho-capitalists, not what he terms "left-wing anarchists".[28] MacNab has stated that "most boogaloo members are libertarian anarchists who hate cops"
So, after all, this defendant may have been an anarchist. He's facing the death penalty in three jurisdictions: California, federal and Air Force. I hope he gets all three.
"The more you know!"

Jumping in again and thanks jagvet for hitting on the key point, our dead security officer.
I'm guilty of playing a role in changing direction of this thread and would like to help it get back to appreciating our security officers and recognizing their jobs can get far more dangerous than i often give them credit for. We have had some great officers in my office over the years and I think everyone's fave was one who worked with us for years and has now retired. I hope he is doing well. A very kind decent man who made all of our lives better and helped claimants to feel comfortable while nonetheless enforcing the no weapons policy and maintaining order in the waiting room. I'm sure the Reps miss him too.
Thankfully, his replacements have also been great but we still miss our long timer!
