RE: Cardinal Robe Company--
You will need to make an appointment, because they normally close at 5:00. However, the store is run by an older couple, and they will be happy to oblige with your class schedule. You will have to take a cab or drive, so gather a group together. They will take a picture of you wearing your robes. If you need to have something specially ordered for size, they can accommodate you, and I was surprised that the cost was still reasonable. I was happy that I went there instead of ordering on line--the robe that I was leaning toward looked awful when I had the opportunity to actually try it on in the store. I ordered my robe on the 24th, and was advised that it was on back order. However, it still arrived at my home before I returned from Baltimore.
Finally, I am not a party animal by any means. However, I echo everything that Lurker said. Your classmates are the people with whom you will be working for the rest of your career. You will see them in a year at the refresher training course, and will doubtless encounter them at judicial conferences. One of them may become your boss. It is a great opportunity to forge important bonds. Also, as the instructors will remind you, those of us hired in 2008 constitute 20% of the ALJs employed by ODAR.
Good luck and have fun. Be sure to see the Body Works exhibit at the science museum on the 1st weekend in Baltimore, after the medical lectures. It will be very helpful to anyone who has not dealt with medical issues in the past.
