I consolidated my loans from FFEL to direct for the COVID forbearance, but bc FedLoans had announced their exit by then, I stayed with the same processor. I sent in my employment certification in November, and FedLoans acknowledged it in mid-November. I have been with the feds for more than 10 years, so employment certification isn't the issue. Since that acknowledgment, crickets from FedLoans and my loans are still showing on the other processor. How long did it take others to have their loans transfered to FedLoans and forgiven under the waiver? My perusal on Reddit postings indicates that two months is a long time. Other posters who submitted employment certifications in November have had their loans transfered and forgiven already. My last call the FedLoans was worthless; the CSR ouldn't tell me why mine application was held up.

From what I understand there won’t be any movement on the forgiveness of waivers for another 30 days or so.

Two months seems about one month too long based on the experience of others.

I’m in the same boat. Submitted my ECF in October, got the acknowledgment letter, and then nothing. FedLoans says that the loans will transfer at some point, but cannot tell me when. I agree that many others with similar fact patterns have had their loans transferred to FedLoans already. 😕

Why is that? Honestly I have no clue. I heard they were applying forgiveness first to those who already had Fedloan accounts, and that they were waiting to work those who recently applied for the waiver. Honestly a bit silly how this was implemented. Made worse by the fact that this process had to be completed by Fedloan. No matter what, when you apply for forgiveness your loans are sent to Fedloan as the new servicer.

There’s a bunch of people reporting that they were forgiven today and people in the know indicated a lot of people will be forgiven this week under the waiver.

Still waiting on any action on my PSLF application. I have received no correspondence since the acknowledgment letter in November. Frustrating to see others posting on r/pslf that they applied for PSLF under the waiver after I did and have had their loans 100% forgiven already. One poster consolidated 11/13/21, his PSLF was processed in December, and his loans were forgiven about two weeks ago.
Called Fedloan to ask about the status of mine. I spoke with a specialist who was unable to give any information other than DoE has placed my application on hold for the waiver. They are obivously not going in FiFo order, or any other order I can surmise. Very frustrating.

I have. I had to initially harass FedLoans because they kept telling me payments didn’t count- for being too early for all reasons

Loans officially forgiven! Thx Pix and fellow board members for providing information about it several months ago. First “virtual” round on me!

I received my forgiveness last week as well. I got a denial in December under the PSLF, and while they were reviewing for eligibility under the TEPSLF, I called, spent 2 hours on hold, and finally spoke to someone who verified I'd get it, but said it would be quicker to submit a new application. OPE signed it in a day and I resubmitted. A week or two after submitting my new application, it was forgiven.
Best part is the refund for any payments over 120. I had 164, so that's a nice check. The lady I spoke to said she processed an application where the person received 40K back.

I received loan forgiveness last week. I had 100k! I still can’t believe it. No word on a refund. I don’t think I’m entitled to one because I recently consolidated into direct loans and it appears the refunds are for extra payments made on direct loans only.
Anyway, you’d be surprised how many still do not know about this “opportunity.” I told a few friends about receiving forgiveness and they were shocked they had not known and plan to submit applications too.

Now I know for myself, that loan forgiveness is not like a seeing a rainbow saddled unicorn. I am thankful not to be making those payments anymore. I also received a refund for overpayments I had made.

The person I spoke with did not say the refunds applied only to direct loans - I only reconsolidated recently (and prior to the waiver) since I previously did not qualify under the payment plan. But she told me I'd be getting around 40+ payments refunded, which included my non-direct payments, FYI.

Sorry. No refund for you. Refunds are only available for payments beyond 120 into a direct loan. If you’re an FFEL consolidation, you don’t get anything back.
