Looks like the proposed telework program for OHO employees will allow for 3-5 days a week depending on job duties - per the Deputy Commissioner. Wonder if that includes group supervisor and HOD positions.

I'm out of the office, so any details appreciated.
For example, it was rumored that ALJs might only be returning to the office with one ALJ per day- any word?

OHO folks will be able to TW 3-5 days a week. mgt going back to office 1 Dec OHO opening up for rest 1 Jan there is a six month trial period. During this time there will be bargaining with union. if you are not participating in TW you will go back to office in January. lots still up in the air eg in person hearings commencement

"Any employee who teleworked during the pandemic (between March 16, 2020-January 2, 2022) will be eligible for, at a minimum, episodic telework if the employee meets the eligibility criteria in the applicable CBA provisions or agency policy."
The more detailed pre-entry plan for OHO provides 5 days telework per week for writers, and 3-4 days for everyone else.
From the tone of the ACOSS and Deputy messages today, it seems to me that production standards won't be a consideration for telework eligibility, but I guess it all depends on the CBA.

Hopeful for 4 days as support staff. 3 would be the pre-Saul status quo, and that's fine I guess, but so much infrastructure has sprung out of the ground over the last 2 years (namely things like ENM, desktop faxing, faxes being routed to e-mail inboxes, and the transition to electronic invoicing for contractors) that I can't imagine 4 days won't be negotiated.
One day a week would be perfect for us to catch up on odds and ends, but I can't really justify less than that in today's environment.

Do we get hazardous pay if we have to come into the office?

Hoping ALJs will only come in for in-person hearings. And I’m betting there won’t be more than two or three days a month for awhile. Especially in urban areas where parking is time-consuming and costly, I can see why reps might want to keep phone/video hearings.

OHO ALJs are to telework 3-4 days a week. No one seems to know exactly but I suspect we will have to come in one day a week. Whether we have hearings or not on that day is unknown.

I haven’t seen anything specific other than that I know NTEU said that AAs will have 5 days telework starting out with evaluation in 6 months.

Thanks. That confirms what I suspected. Not all hearings will be held in-person going forward during FY 22. If ALJ are in the office 1-2 days per week, a good deal of hearings will be held remotely.

Why go into office to do remote hearing you can do from home? Makes no sense but God forbid the ALJs get full time telework

Be careful what you wish for. That’s not so different than many of our realities now. Cases are sent over from different regions and time zones, some worked up in our home offices, some from where they came from. How would a NHC be worse for ALJs or the public? Asking in all seriousness.

Right, I didn't articulate that well. The concern is that they close hearing offices and require all ALJs to be located within 2 hours of the central office.

Here a SWAG, not based on anything I have heard. Ever!
ALJs are told to set up, say 40 telephone/video hearings a month and 10 in-person (to start). Over time, those numbers adjust as the in-person termination hearings get dismissed for no-show. Maybe it ends up 35 tele/video and 15 in-person. Max telework except for the in-person hearing days.
