Soooo, this is the third time in the last year (2/21, and 3/21) that MSPB has posted the Administrative Judge positions Attorney-Examiner (General) Administrative Judge, www.usajobs.gov/Job/632820700#summary I know the job has been reposted because the prior two postings still show in my USA jobs page as "Reviewing Applications." Yet, today they have posted four new positions in Atlanta, Chicago and Arlington. Does anyone know if the "Reviewing Applications," is code for "we were unimpressed with all of the prior applicants which is why they are still pending," or does it mean that this is standard operations when hiring is overseen by OPM? Anyone with any insight, or should I keep banging my head against the proverbial wall?

Anyone with any insight, or should I keep banging my head against the proverbial wall? It has been my experience that USAJobs does not always update the application status. If I click on the "track my application" button, I am transfered to the agency's application site, where I can sometimes see additional information. Like FOADs, even when USAJobs says reviewing applications.

While I did not apply for the prior MSPB postings I did apply for two other jobs that have now been posted twice this year.

Anyone know if the MSPB employs both AAJs and ALJs? I believe they do. If they don’t, then they need to borrow ALJs from other agencies. Because by statute, the MSPB needs ALJs to hear personnel actions against ALJs.

Bippity for the win--I had no idea that all those "under review" postings had actually rejected me until yesterday--a blow to my rather large ego

Note: Experience with federal employment law required, but the GS14 should be a moderate bar for those who have such experience.

I know the position mentions telework, but do we think/know if there is the requirement to be "in office" for these positions? I know of many who might be interested, but aren't willing to move.

I know the position mentions telework, but do we think/know if there is the requirement to be "in office" for these positions? I know of many who might be interested, but aren't willing to move. Since maximum telework ended in October, judges have been required to come into the office at least 1 day/week. Under normal circumstances, judges can telework 3 days/week and are required to be in-office the other two. I don't see remote positions being available anytime soon but especially not before the Senate confirms a quorum of Board members. Thanks so much for your input @cboro. This whole remote thing is definitely a double edged sword. I'm dying to get back to in person hearings and the office myself, but the use of virtual systems over these past few years definitely proves we can accomplish the same goals reasonably well from all over. Especially for a coveted position like this (I've seen like two MSPB AJ vacancies in life lol), hopefully there's consideration for those who don't want to deal with ATLs traffic or DCs COL at some point.

@cboro have you noticed a preference for internal hires for the AJ positions?

@cboro have you noticed a preference for internal hires for the AJ positions? No. Maybe a bit for the DC positions but not for the regional offices outside of DC. In fact, I can think of only 3 internal hires for AJs in the last 5 or 6 years; 2 of those were for DC judges. MSPB hires mostly appellant and agency reps who have practiced before it.

Has anyone heard anything from this posting? The referral notices went out on 3/28, but I haven’t heard of any movement in any office (Chicago, Arlington, or Atlanta).

There should be some movement soon. The Board recently reestablished a quorum, so it's been busy. Plus, an SES vacancy took priority over the administrative judge vacancies. Tiny agency.

Another week and nada. Anyone else? Same here too, though I guess it’s possible that we just didn’t get interviews. Too bad there is no status change for that.
