Haha, I was just thinking based on all the HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND emails we’ve gotten from TPTB today that everyone is wrapping up the work week today and tomorrow is going to be a ghost town. Real Friday vibes today, amirite?

Long time lurker that recently joined this forum! I, too, am waiting on "the call."
Pixie- I want to take a second to thank you for all you do for this forum. The information found here serves simultaneously as a source of comfort and anxiety (I know many here can relate with this sentiment). That said, this forum is such a wonderful resource!
Congrats to all that have made it this far! To get this far is remarkable and we all should be proud of that, no matter what the ultimate outcome ends up being for each of us.
Lastly, to the current ALJ's on here that provide words of support-thanks so much! May those waiting on "the call" be fortunate enough to join you in the fantastic ALJ corps!

I’m actually trying to jinx it into happening. Apples and oranges, but the first post on calls starting in 2017 was on Friday 1 September at 300pm—the Friday before Labor Day. So tomorrow is in play.

Real Friday vibes today, amirite? Well, we don't need the higher-ups to be in the office for the calls. They just have to have already blessed the lucky 25, and the HR folks (one or two people, I think) can be in the office tomorrow (or today) to do the leg work. I have to imagine that the 25 are known to TBTB. It's just a matter of logistics. Thinking positive thought for all in the hunt. Even if it doesn't happen in the next two days.

I may have missed it somewhere, but was it ever ascertained exactly which offices they are filling on this one, or will that only be known after the "calls"?

We don't know locations yet. The four great unanswered questions of 2022 ALJ hiring (updated) 1) how many people interviewed? (estimates seem to range between 70 and 150, i.e., around 3 per position versus 6 per position) 2) how will preferred locations factor in? (board veterans suggest the agency is looking mostly at preferred locations) 3) what offices will receive ALJs? (no clue on this, but the 'preferred location' poll might be helpful) 4) when will applicants be notified of selections? ( not in August, that's for sure. Maybe next week, maybe late September . . . hopefully not never)

There is a little bit of greendog in us all. So just to help out, I think everyone has already left the building for the weekend and the phones will be dead.

He checks in very occasionally, but has dropped out of the ALJ race as he now has a state court judgeship. Pixie

Today sure would be a great day for "the call" going into a holiday weekend. Sending good vibes to all today!
Question (as I am new here): Where was it learned that the agency is hiring 25 for this go around? Could it actually be more? Next, I have seen estimates of the number of applicants interviewed ranging from 90-150. How were those numbers arrived at for this selection? Is this simply an educated guess?
My apologies if this was previously addressed in an earlier thread.

Well we are one week closer to getting the news, so that's something! Happy labor day weekend everybody. I am excited for the 3-day break in my board-checking duties.

Any thoughts on what percentage may be insiders?
Also, is an insider anyone currently employed with the agency? Would this include decision writers all the way up to GS 15's? Would former SSA, but now in a different agency not be an insider (despite being a former insider) ? Seems like there are many of those in the government that are former SSA.
Just wondering......meanwhile, enjoy the weekend!

Any thoughts on the email sent by the Acting Commissioner today right at the end of the day…? Maybe that’s why we haven’t gotten THE CALL….clearly because of the FY 2023 Budget…..maybe, we will end up repeating the same 2019 disastrous story.

Granted I was not at all confident or particularly optimistic I would be picked up this time anyway, but we will all need a remote place to let out a great yawp of frustration if it’s yet another 2019 deal.
