#418-420 might be informative for the IJ chat group. Harsh reality.

It is good that people are looking at the FEVS numbers. A person should go into the job with eyes wide open and all that. But I would just point out that these ratings are not specific to positions. The numbers are averages across all positions within the component. Most people in OHO are not ALJs of course. If they were just polling ALJs, I suspect job satisfaction would be much higher than the average across OHO positions. I think there are close to 2 decision writers per ALJ (someone correct me if this is wrong), and I gather from the board that decision writers are less happy than ALJs as a group.
I don't know anything about EOIR, but it could be a similar situation if most employees there are not IJs.
This point may be obvious, but I figured I'd highlight it just in case.

I would recommend doing your homework if you are considering an IJ position to determine if it is a good fit. It is not as flexible as an SSA ALJ position, they have a large backlog, the IJ union was decertified under the last administration, and the subject matter is a bit of a political hot potato.
