I called Falls Church just to see what answer I would get for an offer date. I was told end of May and likely first part of June (Yes I have read the other threads). Any new insider info? I was told they are still working on the list as of today and things are going slowly........ I would have bet that we would hear this week but it doesn't look that way. I don't need a job, but I need to know which direction I'm going, it is hard to make any plans for work or home the next few months with this up in the air.....

Thanks for calling them! At least we're still on the end of May/early June time table instead of even further delays. Guess it's going to be sometime next week or the first week of June.

Did you ask if the training would still begin July 6?

Today I heard that the offers will go out on Tuesday - the 26th. I do not know the reliability of the source, except to say that he has been on target in the past. Of course next Tuesday does not make much sense to me - if they will be ready Tuesday then, why not Friday. In any event, the reality for folks waiting to hear so they can shut down practices or whatever is that probably no one cares about that, but you...government is just that way sometimes and this is no easy process for the those making selections or staff trying to follow up... Thanks for the info. The possibility of next Tuesday is still better than June 1st.

From your info source to doG's ears! This week would be really nice - so that the long weekend could be spent making plans, but . . .

Of course next Tuesday does not make much sense to me - if they will be ready Tuesday then, why not Friday... This is really a moving target. I was called TODAY by Omnisec about a candidate for whom I am a reference and he said their deadline was tomorrow (5/20) for finishing, so maybe the abilities of the reference checkers is causing the delays. No matter how accurate someone's information is right now, there is no way to count on it, since it hasn't even been officially targeted for that date (i.e. there is no official deadline provided for making offers). I don't know where the people with the information about ODAR-assigned scores based in part on references got their information. Last year, I thought the consensus was that the reference checks needed to be done to make sure someone completely unsuitable didn't slip through, but that the list of candidates could be (and probably was) finalized before that and the only thing that would change would be if someone had horrible references and was to be eliminated, or if someone was so notably glowing that ODAR took another look at them. Of course, I don't know where that info came from either. In any case, if Omnisec is just finishing the reference checks and their deadline is tomorrow, I can see that all day Friday (and even into next week) would be required to finalize what they intend to do. It makes me feel more confident, though, about probably not having to wait until June.

My source says they are shooting for 5-26, but most doubt they are going to make it.

There will be some shifting of openings due to ALJs transferring to national hearing centers (therefore creating additional openings for new ALJs). Some of those transfers are being decided this week.
