For those of us who accepted an offer, what comes next?
More forms, references, background checks, waiting?

Read parts II and III of the FAQ on this board for training, benefits and some helpful tips about quirky ODAR acronyms and the like.

For those of us who accepted an offer, what comes next? More forms, references, background checks, waiting? A full and complete confession to OCALJ, complete with examples, of your sense of humor! BTW, congrats!

Some of the selectees said they would receive some paperwork to fill out. How will they get it, e-mail or regular mail? Don't know

More forms, references, background checks, waiting? More forms should arrive soon. I'm not sure if they are going to do mail or e-mail this year. You may want to look up SF-278, the financial disclosure form in Part II of the FAQ, download an electronic copy, and start filling it out. As Nonamouse mentioned before, it takes quite a bit of work so starting early is good. The FBI background check will happen when it happens. So don't worry about it. Just sit back and relax. The agency will get in touch with you soon enough.

You will get to fill out lots of forms. They will mail them to you. Have fun. When you get to your office one of the ALJs will be assigned as your mentor. They and the HOD will lead you through everything. It would be a good idea to contact the HOCALJ or HOD in your new office because they will not contact you until all the offers have been made. Congratulations and enjoy the best job in government.

My forms arrived by FedEx with a signature required last year to my home, so just be aware of the possibility.

Congrats to all who have received offers, and good luck to those who are still waiting/hoping to hear. Because things can move so fast from this point, especially if you are going to have to pack up and move, it might be worthwhile for those who will be new to federal employment to go on-line and look at the health insurance options. There are many choices, and I always find that very confusing. Also, if you are leaving private practice, make sure that your malpractice carrier will continue to cover you for claims filed in the future. This is standard with some policies, but not included in others. Also, when you contact you new office, make sure that you get the paperwork for a SSA credit card. You will need to use it during the month training session. Be aware that the 1st statement for that card will probably arrive while you are in training. lee

Has anyone received any of the paperwork yet? Any sense whether papers will be delivered FedEx this time? Thanks!
