As has been my wont of late, I have been checking the ALJ examination announcement to look for any indication that OPM will reopen the examination to receipt of new applications. Previously, the announcement stated the open period as 07/30/08 to 08/01/09 (or thereabouts). Today, OPM apparently changed the open period from 07/28/09 to 07/28/10. OPM notes that the examination is still closed to the receipt of new applications.
Does anyone have any thoughts/insight what this seemingly insignificant change portends? Does it now appear more/less likely that OPM will/will not reopen the register this calendar year?
Discuss, but not too heatedly.

Good catch, Mr. Beelzebub. I don't have any knowledge, but like you I have been checking in regularly since I missed the last opening. I have to think the change in the open period, combined with the other information that has been posted lately, such as statements by David V. Foster, seem to indicate that the OPM will reopen to refresh the register in the near future.

If I remember correctly the date change is a method of keeping the "closed" announcement posted. If they did not change the date the announcement would disappear. Don't read anything into it.

By re-posting the closed announcement, those with qualifying veteran status can apply during the next 180 days.
