I'm sure this has been addressed and I know we are to research before posting, but I simply don't have time right now and the deadline is 1 week away. My question is this, the question says something to the effect of list three things you have written that have been published. The call appears to want a journal article, book etc. What do you do if you have not had anything, other than published appellate court decisions which do not appear to qualify, published? ??

Did you receive an email with an attached document relating to references ? Was it the same email that contained the Geographical list or was it in a separate email. Was it also from one of the SSA contacts? Did others who made this cert. receive an email with a reference section (separate or with the email with the GAL?) Thank you very much.

You mean I can't give legal cites to my published decisions? ?? Unless you wrote it, you can't use it for "published" work. Cite to it for your experience in cases, but you didn't write the decision, hence it is not yours to cite in this regard.

I ran a search on this but didn't find what I wanted. Not to say it is not there, I simply could not find it. What I am trying to find out, or would at least like to know, is what does the background check consist of? By that I mean, a credit check, a criminal background check, contact references and past employers and . . . . a public records search? In Oklahoma, as in several other states, we have a court records system online that can list every case an individual has been a party to dating back to the early 90's I believe. Is that something that is included in the background check? Thank you for the good wishes noah. And good luck to everyone this time around. I'm not going to get my hopes up though.

Yes to all those things. The background check runs the gamut of DMV records, credit check, checking for outstanding warrants, checking for an arrest record, checking for misdemeanors, chatting with your past employers, etc. They want to ensure that you could qualify for a secret clearance; they are, like Val says, looking for anything that would disqualifies you for the position because they don't want to hire someone to a lifetime tenure who is going to quit on them.
