Yes, my wife is interviewing next Tuesday and it is way too quiet for my likes. Some one called one of my wife's references yesterday. I have heard that they will be hiring 80 new ALJ's but I don't know how strong that rumor is. I don't know how selections are made for interviewing, but I am not sure anyone else does either. I also don't know what they are looking for at the interview, but I think she will do fine. Of course that doesn't mean she will get offered a job. Only the Shadow knows how those things work..

I would not get to uptight about the interview. I am sure she is not drooling on herself or snapping at them. Just be prepared to give examples of why she thinks she can do the job. Look fresh, get the poppy seeds out of her teeth and relax.

Some drop out on transfer. 80 seems high for 50 sites.

I don't get how they could add slots to the cert unless the additional slots are just being added to locations that are already on the cert. Someone on another thread suggested that several other California locations were listed with the additional slots. Anyone know what gives?

If you're referring to my comment on the August interviews thread, what I said, or meant to say, was this: My original geographical preferences list had 30 locations on it. When I received the August Notification to ALJ Candidate e-mail, there were only about 12 locations on it. Four were for the rest of the US, and the remainder were in California. I don't now any more than that, but I find it interesting that the slots in California were far less likely to be filled. Perhaps many CA hearing offices are expanding and accepting new ALJs.

Message to Falcon- Can you please check info on your GAL re: California (are there 8 listed as post seems to indicate)? Think I should have all Cals and I have 5. Thank you very much.

My list of the openings remaining is a bit more varied than I recalled. Sorry for any rumors I may have started. Out of my 30 original locations, here's what are left:
San Jose, CA Pasadena, CA Los Angeles, CA Downey, CA Raleigh, NC Memphis GA (must be a typo, should be TN) Charleston, SC Richmond, VA Pittsburgh, PA Philadelphia, PA New Haven, CT Hartford, CT
I heard that there's a slot in Oakland, CA too.
Good luck!

Been following this board for the past year and don't think I have ever seen it this quiet. Any idea why? No excitement? People just dont care.

Many of the people who were most active have been appointed as ALJs. Others have left the board. I would guess that many of the people who are still on the register have lower scores and maybe aren't anticipating receiving an offer anytime soon. It would be interesting to see the score spread of those remaining on the register.

Someone remind me--when were you told to expect the calls to go out with offers on this round of hiring?
Good luck to everyone who is waiting.

since there are so few (50) as compared to the summer hire (148) they can probably work the list more quickly, therefore, my guess is as early as next week.
