If any of these posts have a theme, its that the OPM clerks who vet you make mistakes and can be arbitrary.
OPM doesn't like the ALJ Corps--heck under the last administration they disbanded (for want of a better term) the ALJ Office that they had. Those of us who have been up there know that the paint is still on the glass door but now its just a shell and bereft of any dignity. Its a daily reminder of the importance OPM attaches to this whole process--absent the political prodding of SSA they'd open the register once a decade, if that.

In 2007, I put month, year and bar number and got through the process. Same here, for 2008. For what its worth. Maybe I got a good clerk that time. . .
