I'll have an e-mail telling me something, anything. It would go against my theory of OPM waiting until late in the week but my theory about being notified in the the second week in January was wrong, then my theory about being notified in the third week in January was wrong, and so on.........

It seems everyone has gotten up, checked their e-mail, and then checked this board to see if anyone has heard (since this post has been read 102 times already at 9:21 am EST). It's early Monday morning, too early for OPM to be at work and productive and sending out notices Heck they haven't even had a cup of coffee and talked about the weekend yet. Maybe, just maybe, someone came to work today determined to get the notifications off of their to do list...

In 2007, when I didn't get past GO, I think it was a morning message but I'm not sure. I may have a printout of it somewhere.

I looked up the prior messages on application manager. In July 2007 the e-mail was at 6:41 PM. In September 08 the e-mail was at 4:29 PM.

Note both of those were unfavorable NORs. I have no idea whether there was difference in when congratulatory, rather than Dear John e-mails went out.

I also can't believe I even bothered to look. There is such a thing as being too obsessive about this. That last sentence was not directed at the person who asked the question. Obviously I cared enough to look.

Based on my memory, I would look for a change from "awaiting results" to "complete" as a heads-up that the e-mails are being sent.

But PF, the WD comes before the SI, and in some cases, the tests were a month apart. Perhaps things have changed this time.

I have been thinking the same thing, which is why I believe we'll be hearing something any minute now. Still, it's just speculation.

In 2007 the WD and SI started one day apart. You did the WD and later did the SI. As a system, the WD and SI were conducted, for the most part, at the same time. (I took them both on the first day each was given, one day apart.) OPM does not wait until all of the WDs are complete before starting the SI.

Hi Chinook- I went back and checked my calendar- In 2007, my WD was in mid August, and my SI was in late September, as were several colleagues of mine. I seem to remember if there was some type of conflict, you could request a different date, but most folks on the boards had to take two trips to DC, and they were generally weeks if not more than a month apart (to the best of my recollection). Not sure what to think. Also, looks like the notice that we "made the first cut" was about 10 weeks from close of application. They may be doing things differently this time- especially by offering different locales for one of the tests. Guess we'll just have to be patient a while longer!

I think the discrepency in timing comes with the different times people took the WD. In my group (fall 2008), I had a friend sit for the WD a week or two before I did. Her interview was shortly after her WD, but mine was about a month. All we could figure was they could sit 30 or 50 people take the test at one time, but it would take longer to individually interview all those people, hence a short time between steps for early testers and a longer period for late testers.

I live in DC and most of the people I met on those first days also lived in DC. If I remember correctly there was not much time between the receipt of the notice and the WD. There was some speculation that it allowed the people from out of town to make travel plans. For me it was just a metro ride. I also remember being somewhat annoyed that I had the WD and the SI on consecutive days even though the notices indicated that there would be at least one day between. I think Barkley's explaination is correct, they could process more for a WD in a day than they coulf got the SI. With three (I think) WD locations and just DC for the SI it will be interesting to see how things develop.

By the way, for the poll on when we will hear, I am picking sometime in February.

They amazing thing is that Peyton and Eli grew up just blocks from where the Saints used to play, and wentto high school right in the neighborhood. Very nice kids, actually. And their father, of course, was the Saints quarterback for years. When they boys graduated from college, there was talk of the Saints drafting each of them - but that would have been so unfair. How much harm should one franchise be allowed to do one familty ?

Actually, I could write a pretty good analysis of your request containing several pages. However, my knowledge of Latin would not suffice in explaining such a comparison. History, with an emphasis on the medieval era in Europe and American history, was one of my majors as an undergraduate. Now if I had a chance to take a course in Latin....that is, beyond the few words and phrases we learned in law school.
